Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society

The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will have its first “Friend Raiser” of the year on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The first event will be a chicken, mashed potato and biscuit dinner served at the Parish Social Center at 324 Townsend St., Dunkirk. Dinner will be served starting at 4:30 p.m. and will be served until 6 p.m. There will be a drive through take-out service available, or join us and eat in the newly-refreshed Social Center with new tables, chairs, floor and a fresh coat of paint! The donation for this dinner is only $10. Tickets are available after every weekend Mass or at Big Rick’s on East Lake Shore Drive, but hurry, they are going fast!

The Holy Name Society will also be working with the St. Gianna Center in presenting a “Polish Koledy Night” featuring the music of Lenny Gomulka and Chicago Push as they do a sing-a-long of your favorite Christmas Carols, both in Polish and English and dancing to their polka favorites as well. All proceeds will benefit the St. Gianna Pregnancy Outreach Center – Chautauqua Satellite, and will stay here in Chautauqua County. This event will be held Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. at the Blessed Mary Angela Social Center on Townsend Street, and seating is limited to pre-sale admission. In addition to the music, a homestyle Polish dinner is included in the $30 donation. Call Pat at 401-3324 for reservations and more details.

Looking for a quick meal after a long day of Christmas shopping or cookie baking? On Dec. 18, the Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will be serving a December barbecue featuring Weidner’s chicken and spare ribs. The dinner will include the ribs and chicken as well as roasted rosemary baby red potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, bread and hot apple streusel. The donation for this dinner is $15 and will be available at the Social Center from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with eat-in or drive-through service available.

The Holy Name will continue with their winter barbecue series with a Weidner’s chicken barbecue on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020 serving a full dinner or take-out service for only $10. Along with the barbecue, the parish will have its annual indoor flea market starting that night and running through the rest of January and February (through Feb. 22) on Fridays and Saturdays at the Social Center. The Friday and Saturday flea market hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Society will serve a stuffed shell dinner on Feb. 19 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Plans are in the making for the annual joint dinner with the Blessed Mary Angela Fatima Society on Saturday, March 14 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The very popular roast beef with potato salad and baked beans as well as the Fatima Society bake sale will take place in the Parish Lyceum, 15 Pangolin St., Dunkirk.

Everyone is invited to join the Holy Name Society for any or all of these Parish events. Remember Polka Fest 2020 will be held on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020.
