Rev. Buchanan to speak at Unitarian Universalist

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua welcomes Consulting Minister George Buchanan as the speaker on Sunday, Dec. 8. Buchanan says, “My advice as a minister can be summed up in this invitation: Follow your bliss. Yes, I know life is uncertain and often difficult. Knowing all this, I still invite all in the range of my voice to follow your bliss.” Today we will take our worship time to explore this invitation.

During worship services, children may remain with their parents, or parents may send children either to the supervised nursery or to the independent play room for children who are able to engage in unsupervised activities such as crafts and games. Both rooms are adjacent to the main room and have large windows which allow parents and children to see one another during the service.

Once a month we Share the Plate with an organization that aligns with UU principles. One hundred percent of the non-pledge money received on Share the Plate Sunday will be given to the chosen agency. During the service we will Share the Plate with the new Buffalo location of Gigi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center, which works to change the way the world views Down syndrome, sends a global message of acceptance for all, and promises a lifetime commitment to families. For more information, please visit https://gigisplayhouse.org/buffalo/.

This month, the Social Action Committee is collecting shampoo for the Silver Creek Food Pantry. We are also collecting non-perishable food for the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry’s Christmas baskets the first four Sundays in December.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua is a liberal religious community devoted to promoting individual spiritual development, working toward peace, liberty and justice in our immediate and global communities, and providing companionship on life’s sacred journey. Our worship services are held each Sunday at 11 a.m. at 222 Temple St., Fredonia. Parking for those who need close access is located immediately behind the building. Others are asked to park in the lower lot behind the building.
