NCCS holding annual Soup Cook-Off, Best Dessert Contest and Raffle Basket Extravaganza

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School will be hosting its fourth Soup Cook-off, Best Dessert Contest and Raffle Basket Extravaganza! This fund-raising event, hosted by the NCCS Home School Association will be taking place on Sunday, Jan. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. in the NCCS gym, 336 Washington Ave., Dunkirk and is open to all N.C.C.S. families and the public.

The N.C.C.S — HSA is seeking all interested amateur culinary artists (soup) and bakers (desserts) to try your hand at winning the titles of 2020 Dunkirk Soup Champion or 2020 Dunkirk Dessert Champion.

To enter, simply complete an entry form and return along with the $5 fee, per item entered, by Jan. 24. Entry forms for the Soup Cook-off and Dessert contests may be downloaded from the school’s website www.nccschool.us under the About Tab Events section or picked up from the NCCS school’s main office weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. A member of the HSA committee will contact you with more details and to confirm registration by Jan. 25 for those that submit an entry form. Soup entries must be homemade in a 5 quart, or larger, crock pot or slow cooker. Dessert entries must be all homemade and in a disposable container, plate, pie tin, etc. There will be cash prizes awarded to the top three entrants in each contest along with bragging rights for the next year!

We also need the local community to come help us VOTE for your favorite soup entry ($3 fee to vote). It’s up to the public to determine who should take the title and the bragging rights for 2020!

Not a cook or a dessert maker? Stop by and check out the Raffle Basket Extravaganza! Enter to win one of 75+ gift baskets donated by area merchants or made by one of our NCCS families including: a Jack Eichel signed hockey stick from the Sabres, Sabres game tickets, gift cards/certificates to various local restaurants, Tastefully Simple, local wines, lotto tickets, items from the Amish community, 31, jewelry, toys and more. Raffle tickets will be $5 for a sheet of 25, buy 4 sheets and get the 5th for free! HSA will also be selling soup for $3/bowl and desserts for $2/plate. Come out for some food, fun and baskets to help support our local preschool to eighth grade students!
