Ripley United Methodist Church breakfast today

The Ripley United Methodist Church is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church, 84 W. Main St. in Ripley. Enjoy pancakes, sausage, bacon, made-to-order eggs and omelets, home fries, biscuits and sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee for $7. This month’s breakfast will benefit the Be Kind Initiative to Combat Bullying.

Free community meal today

GOWANDA — Trinity UCC in Gowanda is having its free community meal today, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. On the menu is chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, salad, beverage and homemade desserts. The church does accept free will donations. Everyone is welcome. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the meal is served at 4 p.m. The church is located at 30 Erie Ave. in Gowanda, 532-3004. The parking lot is on Erie Avenue across from church.

Journey at St. Joseph

The next Journey at St. Joseph Church in Fredonia will be held Sunday, Feb. 9 at 9:30 a.m. The title of this session is “It All Comes Back to the Eucharist.”

St. John’s United Church of Christ dinner menu change

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk, will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, Feb. 15. Serving is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Call 366-0710 for reservations. Pre-sale tickets are $9.50, or tickets at the door are $10. Take-outs are available. Parking is off Eagle Street. Pre-sales are highly recommended. Call 366-0710. Tickets that were sold for the Jan. 18 dinner which was cancelled due to inclement weather will be honored for this dinner.

St. Joseph’s Gowanda Catholic Church community dinner set

GOWANDA — St. Joseph’s Gowanda Catholic Church will hold its monthly community dinner on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m., 71 E. Main St., Gowanda. All are welcome. Donations are accepted.

Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish Holy Name Society set for Feb. 19

Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish Holy Name Society is continuing with its series of Winter Monotony Breaker Dinners. The next dinner will be on Wednesday, Feb. 19, with a cheese-stuffed shell and Italian sausage dinner with peppers and onions. The dinner will also include tossed salad, Italian bread and hot apple and cherry crisp! The cost is $10. The event is drive through service only at the Social Center at 324 Townsend St., Dunkirk. Purchase tickets after Mass or at Big Rick’s.

Grief support group to begin Feb. 20

There is nothing easy about grief. While taking steps to find comfort and support might feel overwhelming, there is great value in working through our grief and doing so with others that understand. Join us for this video based support group ministry that offers help and encouragement to those grieving the loss of a loved one, family member or friend. Each session is stand alone so it is open to join at any time. If people can’t commit to the entire 12 weeks, that is not a problem. The workbook fee is $15. Scholarships are available.

Christ Alive Essay Contest

The Christ Alive essay contest is open to children in grades 3 through 8 who are enrolled in a Catholic school or in a parish religious education program. Two winners will be announced in each grade from across the United States. Winners will receive $100 and your choice of a Bible from comcenter.com and your class will receive $100 to be used for a class celebration.
