Blessed Mary Angela announces summer activities

The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society wants to announce the new activities scheduled for June and July. They are aware of the PAUSE order that has been issued by the governor and would like to offer a new way to recycle nickel-deposit cans and bottles while still practicing social distancing.

They will have a bottle and can drive at the parish recycling bins in the parking lot at 324 Townsend St. every Saturday in June from 9 a.m. to noon. Drive up, open the trunk, and volunteers will be glad to unload all deposit cans and bottles, as well as any newspapers to recycle. Mark the following dates in the calendar and remember, “Every nickel helps!”: June 6, 13, 20 and 27.

On Wednesday, July 1, Blessed Mary Angela will offer Weidner’s chicken and barbecue spare rib dinner. This dinner was a success last December, and a sell-out is anticipated for July. Get tickets early at Big Rick’s on Lake Shore Drive East or Fourth Ward Deli on Doughty Street. The dinner will include a quarter chicken, spare ribs, baby red potatoes, baked beans and hot apple crisp for dessert, all for a $15 donation. This will be a great way to kick off the July 4th weekend with a bang! The dinner is drive-through only and will be served from 4 to 6 p.m.

Look how far we have come since March 17; together, we will get through this. Remember to trust in Jesus because this, too, shall pass. For questions, please call Tony Popielarz at 467-0891.
