Catholic Charities to host Parish Parking Lot Pop Up in Gowanda

GOWANDA — To help individuals and families during these challenging COVID-19 times, Catholic Charities is hosting Parish Parking Lot Pop Ups at parishes across Western New York, including in Gowanda. Catholic Charities will be at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church at 26 Erie Ave., Gowanda on Monday, Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Catholic Charities team member will be on hand to share a free care bag filled with personal care items and paper products as well as available to answer questions about any of the services that are available.

“Throughout the pandemic, Catholic Charities continues to support our local communities,” said Anne Miles, district director for Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, Catholic Charities. “Some of our offerings are currently virtual, but we remain committed to helping our neighbors in need, from emergency financial assistance and food pantries to counseling and our recently launched ‘Coping with COVID’ support group.”

Since the start of the pandemic in March, Catholic Charities has continued to provide services to individuals and families in need through all of its programs, including food pantries, basic emergency assistance, mental health counseling, and domestic violence programs.

Services available in the southern tier include emergency financial assistance, food pantries in Franklinville and Wellsville, a thrift store in Wellsville, along with such programs as Kinship Caregiver Program for relative caregivers and their families, Multisystemic Therapy Program for at risk youth, Our Kids Parent Education and Awareness program for divorced/separating parents, the court-ordered Domestic Violence Program for Men, and the Health Home Care Management to help youth and their families navigate the network of health providers.
