Brocton Portland Seniors

Brocton Portland Seniors had to cancel their January meeting, but the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Brocton Legion. The Chinese auction will be held, but at a later date to be determined, so save the items. Tour Chairman Margaret Jagoda, has Wednesday, July 24, all set for a fun day at the Allegany Salamanca Casino. Call her at 792-7385 for all the details.

The committee for the February Valentine meeting is Marie Emke, Jane Perkins, Liz Stahlman, Dorothy Reading and Beulah Williams. This will be a tureen, soup, sandwich luncheon with members bringing a dish to share, their own personal table service and a friend. Members’ dues are now due .

Dunkirk Senior Center News

Effective immediately, Tai Chi advanced (veteran) class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4 p.m. through the last week of May. Beginners classes have been discontinued until the fall session begins.

Only a few tickets are available for the spaghetti dinner at the Center on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $8. This event is eat-in only; there will be no take-outs available.

Travel updates for 2019:

On Monday, Feb. 18, Presidents Day, there is a Presque Isle Casino trip with only a few openings remaining. The cost of $26 per person includes $25 casino bonus. There is no food allowance. Please see Barb or Pat at the Center if interested. The Center is closed on this date, but will be open at 8:30 a.m. for the bus departing at 10 a.m.

Monday, March 11 is a trip to del Lago Casino. The member cost is $35 per person. This includes $25 casino bonus and free buffet. Sign-up begins Monday, Feb. 11.

Wednesday, April 17 will be the annual Easter shopping trip to the Broadway Market. The cost is $45 per person. Lunch will be at Chef’s, with the menu choice to be made at the time of sign-up. Sign-up begins Monday, Feb. 4.

Tuesday, May 28 will be a Sounds of Music Beach Boys Tribute Matinee Show at the Seneca Allegany Casino. The cost is $73 per person and includes $20 free slots and a free lunch buffet. Sign-up begins Monday, March 11.

The trip to Shea’s Theatre in Buffalo for “Million Dollar Quartet” for a matinee performance on Sunday, March 17 is full.

Monday, June 10, a trip is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. to see Terry Buchwald at the Depew Polish Falcons. The $58 per person price includes lunch, the show and tips. There will be a candy stop on the way home. Sign-up begins Monday, March 4.

The office, located at 45 Cliffstar Court, is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and Thursday all day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

2019 membership dues ($5) are past due. The year runs Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. You must have an active membership to participate in all programs.

Tuesday, June 25, a customer appreciation casino trip is planned for the Niagara Casino. The cost is $30 per person and includes $30 slot play and free buffet. Sign up will begin in April; watch for date.

Tuesday, July 23, a second customer appreciation casino trip is planned for the Seneca-Allegany Casino in Salamanca. The cost is $30 per person and includes $30 slot play and a free buffet. Sign up will begin in April; watch for date.

From Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 29, the 5 day, 4 night extended trip to Atlantic City at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has been confirmed. The price is $550 per person and includes $60 in slots and $80 in food. The side trip will be to Historic Smithville (optional on Tuesday). Watch for flyers at the Center. The first payment of $275 is due on March 8 (insurance is optional and due at sign in). Balance is due on June 28. Call the center at 366-7530 for information.

Grape Belt Senior News

Aerobics and Weights with Catherine on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. In the event that Catherine cancels aerobics and weights, she will post it on the Grape Belt Seniors Facebook page, on her own Facebook page, WDOE and Chautauqua Today.

2019 dues are now being collected at the Center.

All trips, extended as well as day trips, are open to the public; members and non-members. Fliers for upcoming trips for 2019 are available at the Center.

Trips planned for 2019 FIRST PAID – FIRST RESERVED!

May 13: DelLago Casino. Get $25 slot dollars and free lunch buffet. $32 per person. Pay by Feb. 10.

May 24: BPO “An American Salute.” Includes lunch at Pearl Street Grill. Sign up today. Pay by Feb. 10.

June 3: Murder at Lost Memories Manor. $97 per person. Interactive murder mystery at downtown Buffalo’s newly restored 115 year old landmark The Barrel Factory. Includes buffet luncheon. Check out Lakeward Spirits craft distillery, Pressure Drop Brewing craft brewery, Bar Cultivar, Distillery and Tasting room, and more. A “sweet” mystery stop will be made on the way home.

June 9: 1:10 p.m. Yankees and Cleveland Indians game. All you can eat buffet until 7th inning. Club seating!

This trip is full and finalized. May sign up in case there are cancellations.

June 26: Customer Appreciation. Seneca Niagara. Pay $30. Get $30 in slots and free buffet.

July 20: Great Wellsville Balloon Rally. $55 per person. See 35 Hot Air Balloons take flight from Island Park, making a delightful rainbow of color that floats over the Wellsville area. Enjoy the entertainment, food and vendors at the Main Street Festival.

July 26: Customer Appreciation. Seneca Niagara. Pay $30. Get $30 in slots and free buffet.

Sept. 4: Grove City Shopping and Oh, So Much More. $73 per person. Includes stop at Campbell Pottery in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania. Shopping at Grove City Outlet Mall. Includes lunch at Hoss’s Restaurant. Over 140 Brand Named Outlets. Final stop is Wendell August Forge featuring handcrafted metal giftware.

New York, New York on July 4: July 3 to 6. Includes Hyde Park – F.D. Roosevelt’s home, West Point Military Academy, Hudson River/NYC Harbor Cruise – view Macy’s fireworks from the Capt. J.P. II. Mayville Senior Citizens

The Mayville Seniors gathered on Jan. 17 for their second monthly meeting and a wonderful potluck lunch. Dianne Goodrich gave the devotions and then President Janet Loomis led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary and treasurer reports were given along with the tour director’s list of upcoming trips.

Tuesday, April 16: Easter in Buffalo, Broadway Market, then Salvatore’s for lunch and on to the Made in America store.

Tuesday, June 18: Don’t Lumber Along in Galeton, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum, lunch at Spragues and visit the Cuba Cheese store.

Tuesday, July 23: Soar High with the Birds in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the National Aviary and the Gateway Clipper for a cruise on the three rivers of Pittsburgh.

Wednesday, Sept. 11: Ohio Amish and Cheese country. Travel to Millersburg with a stop at Guggisberg Cheese Factory, an Amish dinner at Anna Erb’s house and shopping at Holmes Country Flea Market.

The final trip of the year will be at Struther’s Library Theater in Warren, Pennsylvania. The details are not yet finalized. For trip information, call Janet Loomis at 761-6687.

We had two new members, Jane Munson and Margaret Geer. Door prize winners were George Cook, Herb Magneson, Pat Johnson and Paul Motrynczuk. The lottery was won by Darlene Harper.

We then enjoyed music by Pat Cook. Her country music is outstanding. Entertainment at the next meeting will be Judy Wroda from No Wrong Door.

Silver Creek Seniors

The Jan. 29 meeting was cancelled due to harsh weather conditions. The optimistic 1 p.m. Feb. 5 meeting at the Senior Center will feature potluck prepared by volunteers.
