Brocton Portland Seniors

It will be a thankful day indeed when the Brocton Portland Seniors come together again! Hopefully that will be in May as April’s meeting has been canceled. However, when we DO get together the menu will still feature the lasagna lunch as promised.

One of our longtime members is celebrating her 92 birthday this week: Julia Schrantz. Let’s give Julia a great shout-out by sending cards to her: Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rm. 196, 10836 Temple Rd. Dunkirk NY 14048. Make her day! Speaking of birthdays, while you’re doing the 20 second birthday song washing of your hands’, remember those who also celebrate this month: Olive Becker, Rich Carpenter, RuthAnn Foster, Jean Jaquith, Carm Johnson, Bill Norris and Ellie Powell. Happy birthday to you!!

Know each and every one of you reading this announcement are thought of richly and warmly. Keep positive as we navigate through this unusual event in our lives. Do you feel safe? Do you have peace? If not, now is a great time to seek a relationship with Christ. In fact– it’s a perfect time as we celebrate this Sunday His rising from death that we also may have everlasting life with Him! And with that kind of assurance policy what do we have to fear? Also, for those who are alone–reach out via the telephone to call a loved one and friend. You don’t have to feel isolated when connections are so easily had today. Til we meet again, may God bless you and KEEP you!

United Seniors

This is to inform all United Seniors, that there will be NO APRIL meeting, at the Beaver Club. Because of the ordered quarantine, and social distancing, we are complying to this order, until further notice. We hope and pray everyone, stay safe and healthy. All monies that were previous paid will be utilized on the next meeting when we actually meet again. No one will forfeit their money. I’m sure everyone is already aware of this, but, we must inform everyone anyway.

As for the minutes of our March meeting, there were 36 members in attendance, and no guests. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Evonne Hennebery, as all members stood, and joined in, placing their hands over their heart. Mary Edwards gave the invocation.

The birthdays for the month of March were as follows: Helen Barone, Joseph Greco, Rosemary Mancuso, Nancy Niebel, Don Reinhoudt, John Wiedenhoffer, Josephine Wierczynski, and Louie Klemens. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday.”

Thank you John Binko, for lending the portable microphone/speaker. Callers thanked were Pat Ebert, Linda Riley, Nancy Niebel and Josie Wierczynski.

Raffle tickets were sold by Robin Carr. The treasurer’s report was given by Evonne Hennebery. Bingo games were held by Phyllis Laurito, Rosemary Mancuso and Lucy Saeli. As stated before, we’re unsure when our next meeting will take place, but we will make sure an announcement will be made, and through word of mouth and our callers, we will get to everyone with this information and a time frame given, when to send money for any upcoming meeting. We are hoping to be able to meet in May.

Evonne and Silvania, shared with the members, their cruise adventures, which included South Beach, Miami Florida, for a week, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Phillipsburg, St. Johns, Antiqua. They went snorkeling with the stingrays in the ocean, and fed them baby shrimp by hand, held them. They had so many interesting stories to share, so probably at a later date, we will learn of more fun and interesting things they did on their adventure. We are also hoping to still have our ham, scalloped potatoes, glazed carrots, tossed salad with homemade dressing, and chocolate and vanilla cake.

We are looking forward to getting together again, and sharing each others’ stories, about how we all passed the time, and complied to the Covid-19 quarantine. God Bless everyone and stay safe.
