Silver Creek seniors celebrate Halloween during gatherings

Silver Creek Senior members came dressed in costume to a meeting recently.

SILVER CREEK – The Silver Creek Seniors met on Oct. 26 with 32 members present. President Ed Newman opened the meeting with the Pledge to the Flag and all singing America the Beautiful. He then welcomed guest Bonnie Purdy. Carm Tampio congratulated Harry and Joan Suski on their 70th anniversary and then said a blessing for the food. The members enjoyed four different homemade soups and desserts.

Gifts were won by Harry, Phyllis Burghardt and Bonnie. 50-50 winners were Ruth Sheeler, Jean McDaneld and Betty Moores. Wheel winners were: Ron Conover, Sally Conover, Phyllis, Don Hoeber, MaryAnn Seibert, Sherry Spano and Earl Sheeler. Bingo was called by President Newman and winners were: Claudia Markham Ahl, MaryAnn, Jim Spano, Sherry, Ruth, Sally, Judy Hahn and Joan Suski.

Pizza will be on the menu for next week’s lunch. The meeting closed with singing “Fairy Tales Can Come True.” Members wished Jean McDaneld a safe trip to her new home. She will be missed by everyone.

The Silver Creek Seniors met on Nov 2 with 25 members present. President Newman opened the meeting with the Pledge to the Flag and This Land is Your Land. He then offered a prayer for all members and for the food. Pizza was enjoyed by all.

Gift recipients were Jim Spano, Ed and Bob Sutehall. The 50-50 winners were Janice Snyder, Sally Shevlin and Dixie Carlson. Wheel of fortune winners were: Lorrie Newman, Dixie, Harry Suski, Bob, and Jim. Ed called bingo and winners were: Lorrie, Sherri, Janice, Joan Militello, Bob, Phyllis Burghardt, Claudia Markham Ahl, Joan Suski and Judy Hahn. Next week’s luncheon will be pot luck.

On Tuesday, Nov. 16, following the club’s regular meeting, representatives from the Region 9 UAW Housing Corporation will be at the club house at 2:15 p.m. to present the proposed redevelopment and transformation of the former Silver Creek High school into Senior Apartments. People can attend in person, virtually via Zoom, or by phone at 1-929-436-2866.

The Silver Creek Senior group meets every Tuesday at 1 p.m. Visitors are always welcome to join in the food and fun. Call President Newman at 934-2170 for more information.
