Dinner, dance aims to take Dunkirk Seniors to 1950s

The Dunkirk Senior Center will be sponsoring a ’50s theme dinner/dance on Thursday, June 29. The meal will consist of sub, chips, dessert, and root beer floats. Doors open at 4 p.m. with dinner at 4:30 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Joe Gould. Sign up in the Center office starting Tuesday, June 20. Tickets are $7 per member.

Save the date for the annual summer picnic which will be held Tuesday, July 25. More information will be available shortly. There are still seats available for the trip to the Buffalo Bisons Baseball game on Wednesday, July 26.The cost per member is $55. Sign up in the Senior Center office. The Murder Mystery Train ride on Aug. 6 is sold out. The Batavia Casino trip is scheduled for July 10. The cost is $40 per member.

Sign up is being taken for the trip to Seneca Niagara Casino to see the comedian Yakov on Tuesday, Aug. 15. The cost of the trip is $80. Sign up is also being taken for the annual trip to Atlantic City – Sept. 10 to 14. Information is available in the Center office.

AARP is sponsoring a driver safety class on Monday, June 26 and Tuesday, June 27. Participants must attend both classes. Call the Center office at 716-366-7530 to register.

Big Bingo will be today and Wednesday, July 12. Doors open at 4 p.m. with a light dinner being served at 4:30 p.m. Bingo is played at 5 p.m. Independent Health will be available Thursday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer any questions regarding your policy. The June birthday party will be held Wednesday, June 28. Any member with a June birthday may sign up for the party. The birthday member may bring guests at a cost of $10 per guest. The July birthday party date has been changed to Wednesday, July 19 due to attending the Buffalo Bisons game on July 26.

The winner of the “Guess the nails” was Judy Sprague. Judy guessed 822. The exact amount was 923. Stop by the center to guess this month’s matchbox car guess.

Dominoes are played on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Mahjongg is Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Pinochle is Monday and Friday at 1 p.m. Exercise is Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. Hand and Foot card game is played Friday at 1 p.m. Tai Chi is Tuesday and Thursday at 3 p.m. Social time is Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Attendees bring their own lunch and can enjoy 25 cent bingo.
