Family, friends gather to mark 100th birthday

Throughout the day on June 4 more than 200 relatives and friends helped Angeline Corbett celebrate her 100th birthday held at the Beaver Club in Fredonia.

Surprise guests from as far away as North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, Georgia, Virginia, Indiana, Florida, Las Vegas, and Pennsylvania all showed up to help her celebrate this memorable occasion.

Corbett, one of 17 siblings, was born on June 1, 1923, to Carlo and Elizabeth Galardo. She was married to Clarence Corbett for more than 40 years until his passing in 1986. The mother of four children, nine grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren 15 step

grandchildren 2 step great-grandchildren.

She was a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II at the Curtis Wright factory in Buffalo, were she met her future husband. After living in North Carolina for a brief time, she and her family moved back to the area where she worked as a lunch monitor at School 3 for 35 years.
