Gowanda Elementary names top first-graders for May

Tyrone LeRoy and Joseph Nicholson from Mrs. Elizabeth Fish and Mrs. Theresa Tonello's first-grade class.

To promote a positive school community, Gowanda Elementary School emphasizes core values each month. The following first-graders “got caught” displaying these traits during the month of May 2019.

Scarlett John got caught showing Determination by trying her best and not giving up when learning her multiplication and division facts. Good work ethic, Scarlett!

Jada Warrior got caught displaying Determination by not giving up when reading got tough. She kept trying and continues to shine to this very day!

Samuel Loving got caught showing Teamwork by helping to organize the toys on the choice-time shelf. Thank you, Sam, for helping your classroom run smoothly!

Arian Rice and Althena Boos from Mrs. Ashley Bull's first-grade class.

Jaydan Wall got caught exhibiting Respect to her substitute teacher. The teacher reported that Jaydan stood out as being especially helpful and kind. Way to go, Jaydan!

Arian Rice got caught displaying Self-Control by working quietly in his seat during independent work, even when his classmates were talking and unfocused. Arian is on his way to great things and a world of knowledge!

Althena Boos got caught showing Determination by not giving up even when the work got tough. Because of her determination, Althena’s ORF (Oral Reading Fluency) score increased to an all-time high. Congratulations on a new personal best, Althena!
