Summer concert slate set for Cassadaga

CASSADAGA — The village and the Citizens for a Better Cassadaga proudly announce the “Cassadaga Lakes Summer Concert Series.” Since its inception three years ago, the concert series has grown, the audience has grown, and enthusiasm has skyrocketed.

All the concerts — except for one — will be held on the floating stage on Sundays 5 to 7 p.m. The floating stage is located on 45 Park Ave. at the Cassadaga Beach. This year’s line up features local bands and a variety of genres.

The one exception will take place on Wednesday, June 26. The Cassadaga Area Concert Band will be performing on the beach at the Strawberry Social from 6:30 to 8:30. Donations for a strawberry shortcake will be accepted. This event is sponsored by the Citizens for a Better Cassadaga.

¯ On June 30, South 79 will be performing their award-winning bluegrass music on the floating stage. This band tours up and down the east coast and has Nashville recordings to their credit. You won’t want to miss this group! This concert is co-sponsored by the Tri-County Arts Grant and the Blue Oar Guest House.

¯ Second Street Sunset will perform on July 14. Their mix of classic rock and oldies is a real crowd pleaser. They are sponsored by the Cassadaga Lakes Association.

¯ On July 28, The Untouchables will entertain us with a variety of genres including blues, rock and wow us with their brass. You may have heard them play last summer for the opening of the Comedy Center in Jamestown. They are co-sponsored by the Cassadaga Fire Department Auxiliary, Community Bank and Savvy Hair Design.

¯ The Dave Golando Big Band (16 piece!) will be performing next on Aug. 11. This group of professional jazz musicians will amaze you. You cannot find anything even close to this caliber of music outside of New York City. Sponsors are the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Project Pools Grant and the American Legion Post 1280.

¯ Aug. 25 is the date for The Rustic Ramblers. These “four old geezers” as they call themselves, love to play as much as you will love to listen. Their country and western music with pedal steel guitar delights every audience. They are sponsored by the Village of Cassadaga.

¯ On Sept. 2, the duo “Dos” will be rocking the floating stage will their classic rock and oldies. This concert is sponsored by the Cassadaga Lakes Association and is part of the Cassadaga Labor Day Festival. This concert is the end destination of the Boat Parade, so you are sure to see some entertaining vessels on the water.

These concerts can be attended by boat or bring a blanket or chair. The hillside down to the floating stage is a natural amphitheater with shade trees and stunning view of the lake.

The basketball court has two new gates thanks to the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation for better access. The basketball court also makes a great dance floor for anyone who wants to shake a leg. Food and drink will be sold by the Citizens for a Better Cassadaga or you may bring your own. Cassadaga Beach also has a playground, beach volleyball, and picnic tables. Lifeguards will be on duty for swimming.

In case of inclement weather, events will be held at the American Legion Post 1280, 228 Maple Ave. or the Community Building, 22 Mill St. For more information, call 665-8855.
