Zebraski, Mignoli named Valedictorian, Salutatorian at Fredonia

Fredonia’s Valedictorian was announced as Kaelyn Zebraski. She is the daughter of Paul and Lori Zebraski and younger sister to Haley Zebraski. To challenge herself in school, Kaelyn enrolled in many advanced classes, including five AP classes and JCC course work. At JCC Kaelyn was named to the Part-Time Student Dean’s List for the fall semester of 2017-2018. Kaelyn will graduate with an Advanced Regents diploma with honors.

Kaelyn has competed at high school level sports since middle school. In sixth grade, she became a manager on the swim team and began competing during her seventh grade year as a swimmer and diver. She has remained a competitive swimmer through her senior year. During her time on the team, Kaelyn made it to the class meet trial and the sectional team two times, her sophomore and junior years; the team won the county championships twice and the team also earned the section 6 class B title.

In addition to sports, Kaelyn is active in musical theater. Kaelyn started performing in the sixth grade and has participated in all the middle school and high school musicals since. Some roles Kaelyn has had the privilege of performing include: Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Rusty in Footloose, and Ti Moune in Once Upon this Island, Jr. Kaelyn auditioned and was granted a scholarship to the National Theater of Student Artists where she performed as Laia in Loserville at the York Theater in NYC this past July. Kaelyn has served as the treasurer for the drama club for the last three years. She is also the president and member of the Editorial Board for the school yearbook. She was the Community Service Chair Officer for the Fredonia Chapter of NHS, and a member of the Model UN Delegation.

After Kaelyn graduates from high school, she will be attending the University at Buffalo where she hopes to participate in the dual degree program, earning a BS in Chemistry and a MA in Spanish. She would also like to minor in theater and continue to participate in local theater productions.

The Fredonia Central School Salutatorian was announced as Maggie Mignoli. She is the daughter of Steve and Kelly Mignoli.

Kaelyn Zebraski

Maggie has attended Fredonia her entire academic career, beginning in preschool up through her senior year. In her time at the high school, Maggie has taken five AP classes and three JCC classes and is currently ranked second in her class. Maggie has played the same three sports since seventh grade: volleyball, wrestling, and softball. She has been a member of the varsity volleyball team since her junior year and a member of the varsity wrestling and varsity softball teams since her sophomore year. In her junior year, Maggie received League Honorable Mention for softball and the CCAA Sportsmanship Award for volleyball.

At school, Maggie is a member of the National Honor Society and the Art National Honor Society, and she has served on the Student Council as a class representative since her freshman year. Through these clubs, Maggie is able to volunteer in the community across a variety of events offered, including Santa’s Workshop and town clean-ups.

In regards to her future plans, Maggie will be attending the University of Rochester to major in molecular genetics and a minor in psychology.
