Fredonia High School Class of ‘79 celebrated 40 year reunion

Submitted by Doug Smith Members of Fredonia High School’s Class of 1979 celebrated their 40th reunion in July

The Fredonia High School Class of 1979 recently celebrated its 40th class reunion. About 70 classmates and 30 spouses and friends got together over two days.

On Friday, July 12, Perry Antolini hosted the group at an ice-breaker event at the Old Main Inn. On Saturday morning, Principal Darrin Paschke gave a small group a tour of the school and the on-going facility improvements. Another group enjoyed a round of golf at the Vineyards Golf Course. The second evening included a beautiful and delicious catered buffet provided by The Catering Company at the wonderful environment provided at Rotunda Grapevine Railroad Farm. A life size 1979-era hillbilly mascot was provided for photos!

Shelley Yorke arranged a caring tribute for our 22 classmates who have passed, and three of our favorite teachers who passed recently were recognized before dinner. Between donations, a raffle, and other sources, the Class of 1979 Memorial Scholarship Fund that grants scholarships to graduating FHS seniors was further enhanced. Special thanks to Jim Ludemann’s family who made the awesome cake and did the official photography!

Ideas are welcome for our 45th reunion, and for those classmates who were not able to attend the 40th, your friends really hope you can make it to the next one. Please send your full contact information to Doug Smith at speedracer152167@yahoo.com.
