Fredonia Beaver Club Funds Purchase of Man-Lift for Opera House

Submitted photo Members of the Board of Directors of the Fredonia Beaver Club join Opera House Executive Director Rick Davis with the man-lift purchased with a recent donation from the Club. The lift is used regularly by the Opera House staff to access and maintain the lights and rigging 25 feet above the stage. The 1891 Fredonia Opera House recently received a generous donation from the Fredonia Beaver Club, which enabled the theatre to replace the man-lift used to reach the lights and rigging above the stage.

“We use a man-lift at least once a week to reach the lighting grid, pipes and cables housed 25 feet above the stage floor,” notes Opera House Executive Director Rick Davis. “Our previous lift, which had been purchased used in 2007, broke beyond repair earlier this year. We immediately searched for a lift that would meet our needs and found an affordable used one in Buffalo. A brand new one would have been far too costly.”

Davis says thanks to a generous pledge from the Beaver Club, the Opera House was able to purchase the lift without interruption to its operations. “We are truly fortunate to have community-minded organizations such as the Beaver Club here in Fredonia. Its support, and the support of organizations like it, greatly enhance the quality of life for all who live here.”

“The Beaver Club is proud to be able to help great organizations in Fredonia like the Opera House. People probably do not realize, but through our Bell Jar, the Beaver Club has given over a quarter million dollars to local charitable causes over the past decade…we’re very proud of that,” says Beaver Club Financial Secretary Rich Ryan.

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House is a member-supported not-for-profit organization located in Village Hall in downtown Fredonia. A complete schedule of Opera House events is available at www.fredopera.org.
