Light up Cassadaga has strong turnout

CASSADAGA -- A Light Up Cassadaga celebration was recently held in the village.
Santa stopped by, arriving by the Cassadaga Volunteer Fire Department firetruck number 102. Santa's arrival opened the winter weekend event. Santa said when he left the north pole, there was little snow on the ground and was surprised when he arrived in Cassadaga, as there is usually lots of snow. So since he was not able to use his eight reindeer, members of the fire department helped him out with a ride on the firetruck. Elf Sue and Elf Bonita helped Santa give out the gifts to the children.
The Cassadaga Fire Auxiliary had set up a hot chocolate and hot coffee stand, and the Cassadaga Librarian Hannah Abram had set up a Christmas cake stand with individual wrapped cakes, and children's creative coloring books. Children were seated six feet from Santa this year to tell Santa what kinds of presents they were looking for on Christmas morning.
The Living Nativity was set up in front of the Park United Methodist Church Cassadaga Campus. Not only were the people live, but so were the sheep.
The Citizens for a Better Cassadaga held the tree lighting ceremony in the village park at the corner of Main Street and Maple Avenue. The sound system was provided by Dan Thorp.
A fun time was held by all.
