The honorees were James Northrop for March and McKenzie Wolfe for April. Each received a framed certificate as a token of recognition.

Northrop, a senior, is the son of William and Sherry Northrop. During this scholar’s high school career, he enrolled in nine Jamestown Community College courses, in addition to his high school courses. At the end of his senior year, Northrop will have earned 30 college credits. He will graduate in June 2021 with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and with Mastery in Science.

Northrop is a member of the We The People team that placed second in the state and that recently participated at the national level of competition. He earned the WACS Academic Achievement Honors Patch, as well as the Academic Achievement Academics Pin 1, Pin 2 and the Academic All-Star Pin. Throughout his high school career, Northrop earned his place on the honor roll because his grade point average was above 90%.

He is a four-year member of the senior high chorus, and is a member of the Ape-men, an all-male choral ensemble, and also Westwinds, a select choral group. Northrop is a member of the handbell ensemble and the drama club. He was in the cast of the school productions of The Adventures of Nickelboy, Newsies, A Christmas Carol and Camp Rock.

McKenzie Wolfe

Outside of school, Northrop volunteers with the Westfield Golden Hawks football team, and he has held employment at Sunset Sky Farms. In the fall of 2021, he will attend Clarkson University to pursue a degree in business.

Wolfe is the daughter of Jason Wolfe and Amanda Ross. As a participant in Jamestown Community College’s Connections Program, she enrolled in nine JCC courses. At the end of her high school career, Wolfe will have earned 26 JCC college credits.

In addition to her high school courses, Wolfe is enrolled in one State University at Fredonia course. During her junior year, she was enrolled in one SUNY College at Buffalo course. She will graduate in June 2021 with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Mastery in Science.

Wolfe earned the WACS Academic Achievement Honors Patch, the Academic Achievement Academics Pin #1 and the Academic All-Star Pin. She served as class vice president in her freshman year and class president in her sophomore year. She is a member of ski club and environmental club, and she was a member of Key Club.

She is a member of several varsity athletic teams. She played varsity soccer during her high school career and she served as captain for the 2020 team. Wolfe was a member of the junior varsity basketball team as well as the varsity basketball team during the past three years. She is also a member of the varsity track and field team.

During her high school career, Wolfe completed 150 community service hours, volunteering her time in school internships with mathematics department teachers. In the fall of 2021, Wolfe will attend Rochester Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in psychology with a minor in criminal justice.
