Brocton lists top students for April

Emma VanValkenburg

BROCTON — Students of the month were named recently at Brocton Central School.

Emma VanValkenburg was selected by the Brocton Middle School faculty and staff. She is currently an eighth-grader at Brocton and is the daughter of Kathryn and Dale VanValkenburg of Brocton.

Emma is mentor for the student-run group, Sources of Strength program at BCS, focusing on the physical and mental health of the student body.

Emma is also a member of Band and Chorus. She has achieved High Honor Roll twice this school year. She has been selected to All-County Chorus. She is also a dancer.

Emma’s favorite subject is science.

Nevaeh Krauter

She plans to attend college in the future to become a pharmacist or a chemist.

Nevaeh Krauter was selected by the Brocton High School faculty and staff. She is a junior and resides in Brocton with her parents, Juliana Krauter and Jeremie Krauter.

Nevaeh is a member of Interact Club, Student Council and the Prom Committee. Nevaeh is enrolled in multiple JCC courses. She is a columnist for the Brocton Review.

Nevaeh is employed by the BCS Fitness Center and 64 on the Pier in Dunkirk.

Nevaeh’s favorite class is English. She enjoys expressing herself through writing and enjoys learning about different writing styles. She attributes her passion to her English teachers at BCS who make it so much fun to read and write.

In the future, Nevaeh plans to attend St. Bonaventure University or the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study business or nursing.
