Danza! takes the stage at national competitions

Danza! Performing Arts Academy and its student Danzaco dance companies had an amazing season finishing out with a National event in June. At Nationals the group brought home numerous overall high scoring awards. It was an unprecedented season where every single group, solo, duet and trio entered into regional events were eligible for National competition by their high scores.
In Overall group action Junior/Senior Danzaco was National first runner up with their jazz dance “Move Your Body” and second runner up with their contemporary piece “@burn”. “Move Your Body” was also recognized with a special judges award for fabulous battements. National Senior top duet/trio title was awarded to Danza! for “Rise” a contemporary lyrical piece performed by Taylor Thompson and Tabitha Shevlin and Top Teen duet/trio for “On the floor” by Marissa Grisanti and Ella Pacos.
Petite Danzaco earned first runner up with their dance “Hit me Baby One More Time”. Morgan Kuras was awarded the National title in age 9-10 with her sassy jazz dance to “Where’s the Party”.
Every Danza! dance performed was awarded first in category in every division including groups, solo, duets and trios at Nationals.
The Teen solo National Title was awarded to Taylor Thompson with her jazz dance “Nasty” which was also awarded the “most entertaining” solo, duet or trio of the event. Receiving First runner up in their respective age categories were Tabitha Shevlin, Ella Pacos, Marissa Grisanti and Savannah Stein.

Mckenna Taylor received the “Summerdanse Superstar” award at both regional and Nationals for receiving perfect scores with her self-choreographed contemporary ballet to “The Chairman’s Walz.”
Danzaco dance Company was created to give interested and talented local dancers extra performance opportunities. The group participates in charitable and community events as well as competition and participates in three of Danza! Performing Arts annual productions including their very own Showcase.
In the 2021-22 regional season dancers had several competitive events, giving them a chance to perform on stage for a panel of judges. In group divisions several overall awards were received in the Junior/Senior division. Dancers performed a traditional jazz dance to “Move Your Body” and a contemporary piece to “@burn”.
Dancers include Tabitha Shevlin, Emma Forthman, Marissa Grisanti and Alyssa Cornell of Silver Creek, Ella Pacos of Cassadaga, Taylor Thompson of Westfield and Danielle Krajewski of Gowanda. Dances were choreographed by Danza! director Krista Taylor.
Numerous overall awards were also received in the acro division. Performing “Sweet Sacrifice” Shevlin, Grisanti and Thompson were recognized with special awards for their talents. Also competing in the Hip hop division were Cornell, Shevlin, Pacos, Grisanti, Krajewski and Thompson. “One, Two Step” was choreographed by Mckenna Taylor and placed first in division.
In duet/trio action in each event Danza! placed in overalls with both “Rise” and “On the Floor”.
Solo dancers Forthman, Grisanti, Kuras, Krajewski, Pacos, Taylor, Shevlin, Stein and Thompson also earned First Overall and runner up and first and second in category.
Petite Danzaco performed a high energy jazz dance to “Sassy”, dancers include Autumn Clark, Siyah Drummond, Morgan Kuras, Savanna Stein, Isabella Ortiz and Zuleymarie Torres. The dancers earned first overall and several platinum and high gold ratings. Petite Morgan Kuras performed as a debut soloist placing first in overalls in every regional competition with Danza! dancer Savannah Stein receiving first runner up.
