Gowanda names top students for May 2023

Molly Bowers
GOWANDA – The Student Council of Gowanda High School named five outstanding Panthers as Students of the Month for May 2023.
Honorees are selected based on the following attributes – collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity – otherwise known as The Four C’s. These skills and characteristics are central to the district’s mission and values.
Molly Bowers for critical thinking: “Molly’s critical thinking skills are exceptional in Geometry. She can find multiple ways to solve a problem while including impeccable explanations for her answers. Molly strives for excellence daily in Geometry by asking high level questions and going above and beyond what is required for her assignments. Molly attends class everyday and is always prepared. She is respectful to her classmates and enjoys helping others with their work. Molly is determined to achieve mastery on the NYS regents exam and with her hard work ethic I believe she will obtain her goal. It has been an absolute pleasure having Molly as a student this year.” – Mr. Richard Weber.
DJ DiRienzo for communication: “DJ is an outstanding student whose personality shines through in the classroom. He asks thoughtful questions and provides humor to class discussions. His presence livens our daily economics lessons and his stock knowledge is unmatched. ” – Mr. Dan Ratel.
Cianna Hidalgo for critical thinking: “Cici is a model student. Throughout the year, she has consistently proved that she not only strives understands the material, but to reflect on what she has learned. Choosing Cici as a student of the month for critical thinking was a no-brainer — she never rushes through assignments, because she instead chooses to carefully answer questions with well thought-out responses. Many of the assignments in Haudenosaunee Studies involve personal reflections, and Cici never fails to think deeper and make those connections.” – Ms. Michelle Merrill.

Crissa Scanlan for communication: “Crissa has demonstrated her skills in communication through the daily creation of our morning announcements. She works hard to finish her tasks and clearly communicates with peers to monitor progress towards completing each show. While student roles during production are continually rotating, she is always willing to try her best at each one she is assigned to. Her honesty is appreciated during class discussions and she often offers feedback to improve the aesthetics or wording of announcement clips. Lastly, she contributes an enthusiastic tone when presenting her messages. Best of luck in your future endeavors Crissa!” – Mr. Ed Bugenhagen.
Daniel Stang for collaboration: “Not only does Dan take my Creativity and Innovation class, but he also comes down for Model Office. He is always willing to help other students with their projects as well as making some nice projects for himself. He’s polite, respectful and just a decent kid.” – Mr. Tom Partridge.
