WNY P-TECH hosts annual Summer Bridge Program

The Summer Bridge Program at WNY P-TECH in Dunkirk and CAM P-TECH in Springville was well-attended, with students embracing the positive environment and opportunity to learn something new.
This annual, weeklong event is for new and returning students to the P-TECH program and provides the chance to get used to their new surroundings prior to the start of the new school year.
The program included challenges, bridge building, soldering, scavenger hunts, and more.
"Providing students with these experiences will make them much more adept and confident in their abilities during the regular school year," said William Smock, WNY P-TECH principal. "With the kids being able to try soldering, for example, they were able to display excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with their hands and machinery." The students also traveled to Peek'n Peak Resort with activities including a tree-top course and ziplining. This endeavor allowed the participants to explore and enjoy the environment while building the camaraderie that P-TECH is known for. Also, as part of Summer Bridge, WNY P-TECH students toured the Jamestown Community College campus. Students participated in lab and team-building activities on campus.
