Dunkirk-Fredonia Lions Club welcomes new members

Marty Klemann received the Lion of the Year and the Uplinger Award. His award was presented by Ann Aiken of the Mayville Lions Club, and who is 20-N, Region Four, Zone One Chairperson.

The Dunkirk Fredonia Lions Club welcomed four new members at its recent Charter Night celebration which commemorated the 82nd year of the club. The banquet was held at The Clarion Hotel with a meal provided by Steelbound Restaurant and a cake made by The Cakery.

Lion Peter D. Clark, who, with 49 years and currently holds the longest membership in the club, delivered the induction ceremony. Newly inducted members are: Mike Herlong, Holly Pilarski, Tobi Marvin, and Michael Marvin, whose father was a former longtime member of the club.

Lion Ann Aiken of the Mayville, NY Lions Club, and who is 20-N, Region Four, Zone One Chairperson, presented the both the Lion of the Year and the Uplinger Award to Lion Marty Klemann for his dedication, service, and hard work as Treasurer and Golf Tournament Chairperson, along with his other work. It was noted that Lion Klemann’s family also frequently works on Lions Club projects which is much appreciated.

Community service projects of the club include: a medical equipment loan closet, eyeglass collection sites, eyeglass and hearing needs program, scholarship program in area schools, and participation in the Great Lakes Beach Sweep.
