GOWANDA - The Student Council of Gowanda High School named five outstanding Panthers as Students of the Month for September 2023.
Honorees are selected based on the following attributes - collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity - otherwise known as The Four C's. These skills and characteristics are central to the district's mission and values.
Landen Ashley for communication: "Landen established himself as a star student in the first days of the 2023-2024 school year." - Mr. Tim Smith.
Aiden Gray for communication: "Aiden is my pick for student of the month because he has displayed all the qualities that are deserving of this recognition. Aiden is aware of what he needs to do to be successful in the classroom and has put forth great effort to do that. He also displays maturity and responsibility that will lead him to much success this school year. It is terrific when students start out the new school year focused and determined and Aiden has done that! " - Ms. Jacquelyn Shields
Audrina Huss for critical thinking: "Audrina has had a great start to the 2023-2024 school year in Geometry. She has completed all of her assignments on time while showing exceptional work. She scored a 100 on the first quiz of the school year as well. Audrina grasps the lesson content quickly and is always willing to contribute to the class discussions. She works very hard in class by taking detailed notes throughout the lecture. It is a pleasure having Audrina in class this year. Keep up the great work Audrina." - Mr. Richard Weber.
Nova Kennedy for creativity: "Nova is such a creative student! He takes time to cultivate interesting characters for his Creative Writing class and does a lot of artistic projects outside of school such as beading and drawing. He has an engaging personality that just talking with him is a positive experience! Nova is a creative, progressive thinker who is looking to make a positive, lasting difference at Gowanda High School." - Ms. Jen Mattimore.
Makayla Kuras for critical thinking: "Makayla is always willing to think on her feet in Spanish class. She takes new ideas and applies them quickly to all situations. Whether it is conjugating verbs or reading numbers in Spanish, Makayla demonstrates her academic excellence. She is a friend to her peers, a role model for others and a delight to teach!" - Ms. Barb Dempsey.
