Members of the Brocton Preceptor Beta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met recently at the Cassadaga Country Club for their annual Founder’s Day Celebration and dinner. This is the 93rd anniversary of its founding.

Prior to the dinner, rituals were held for Chapter member Dana Haskin who progressed to the Preceptor Degree, which is the Fourth Degree of Beta Sigma Phi. She qualified after six years of membership in the Exemplar Degree. She is a 10 year member, joining in February of 2014. Following the Ritual she received her distinctive Preceptor pin and a yellow rose. She was congratulated by all of her Chapter “Sisters” with the Beta Sigma Phi Handshake and hugs.

Members then commenced with the Founder’s Day Celebration with The Beta Sigma Phi Grace recited by all. Judy Travis then followed with the reading of the Founder’s Day Pledge with a tribute to our Founder, Walter W. Ross. Valerie Lis had the honor of reading a message from International President, Laura Ross Wingfield announcing the Theme for the 2024 – 2025 year, “Beta Sigma Phi – The Right Place to Be.” Valerie and Laura are friends from the many Conventions they have shared together.

Following the dinner Janice Hipwell, the Woman of the Year from this past year announced the 2024 – 2025 Woman of the Year as a person who has distinguished herself through her outstanding contributions to Beta Sigma Phi and the Community and she exemplifies all of the beautiful things our Sorority stands for and always gives the best that is in her, President, Lois Smith. She received a unique “Woman of the Year” pin and was congratulated by her special “Sisters” for this surprise honor.
