Lions Club hosts Bowling for the Blind
- Judy Cole, president of the Dunkirk Fredonia Lions Club, presents a plaque to Paul Nocek of Lucky Lanes in Fredonia.
There were 22 people in attendance with 11 bowlers. Two young men from the Dunkirk High School Bowling team, Cameron and Carter Keppel, graciously donated their time to assist the Lions Club members in guiding the bowlers. The party included refreshments of pizza, cake and brownies.
Paul Nocek, of Lucky Lanes, was presented with a plaque from the Dunkirk Fredonia Lions Club thanking him for his assistance and donations to the event both this year and last.
“Our club is continually looking for ways that we might serve in our community,” said Lions Club president Judy Cole. “We are excited to be making connections to better understand the needs and desires of our sight-challenged population. In addition to bowling, over the last year we have facilitated opportunities for our blind friends to attend a holiday concert, attend the Dunkirk Music at the Point, and we had a summer picnic at Russell Joy Park. We hope to continue each of those events and are looking at some new opportunities for this year.”
The Dunkirk Fredonia Lions Club, a group of men and women dedicated to humanitarian and community service, meets the second Monday of each month. The Club is always looking for new members who wish to join them in making a difference in our community.
