WESTFIELD – Lake Shore Center for the Arts announces it is hosting the first Western New York Writers Conference on Oct. 11 at the Art Center, 49 S. Portage St., from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The goal is to create a community for writers with educational workshops, inspirational speakers, and a full day to immerse yourself in the writing and publishing world. This event is made possible with a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation.
Building on existing writing programs at the art center, the need for an annual writers’ conference was identified. Attendance is limited to the first 100 registrants due to space limitations, so go to LSCFTA web site (lakeshorecenterforthearts.com) to sign up to reserve your space. The $79 fee includes all activities, including door prizes, swag, a catered lunch, the opportunity to display and sell your books.
There will be presentations from published authors (nonfiction and fiction), a keynote presentation from Mark Pogodzinski who is a Buffalo publisher representing more than eighty local authors’ books. Choose from several workshops in the morning and afternoon. It is a chance to improve your writing skills, to learn about publishing, to promote your own work, and to network with others who share your writing passion.
