Brocton Middle School named sixth-grader Freixedo Diaz, son of Selena Carrasco.

At school, Freixedo sings with the chorus and enjoys learning in the classroom — especially Social Studies. “We get to read cool stuff about Egyptians and Mesopotamia civilization,” Freixedo said, explaining why Social Studies is a favorite.

Although Freixedo isn’t yet active in school sports, volleyball is a goal for the near future. “I hope that I get to be in a sport and reach my goals,” Freixedo shared. That determination to try new activities is one reason teachers selected Freixedo for this honor.

Freixedo’s long-term plans are centered on music and visual storytelling. Inspired by the bold, stylish work of creators like KATSEYE, Freixedo aspires to become a music director who helps bring creative visions to life, particularly through high-quality music videos. Looking ahead to higher education, Freixedo plans to attend college to study music and video production.

Brocton High School recognized senior Zoe Spiller. A driven student-athlete and school leader from Portland, Zoe balances varsity sports, academics, and service with determination and heart.

Spiller, daughter of Kerri Marczynski, is a senior at Brocton High School. She is a standout athlete, competing on the varsity volleyball, basketball, and softball teams, and she serves on the student council. Her athletic achievements have earned recognition such as WDOE Athlete of the Day/Week, and she represents the school as a Student Ambassador for BOCES. Zoe is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society.

Looking ahead, Spiller plans to earn a certification in personal training and continue training while attending college. She intends to major in Physical Education, combining her passion for sport and fitness with a desire to help others reach their best. Spiller’s favorite subject is History.
