‘Game of REAL Life’ fair planned for April 8
MAYVILLE — Local organizations are teaming up to help teens and young adults prepare for independent living through an interactive community event.
The Game of REAL Life Teen Resource Fair will be held Wednesday, April 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the G.A. Family Services Gymnasium, located at 210 Gustavus Ave. in Jamestown. Youth should enter through the gymnasium doors at the rear parking lot.
The free event is open to teens and young adults ages 14to 21 living in Chautauqua County who want to explore resources that support the transition to adulthood.
Participants will have the opportunity to connect with representatives from local organizations offering services related to employment and job training, continuing education, housing and independent living, banking and financial literacy, transportation, healthcare and wellness, and community support services.
Attendees will “play” the Game of REAL Life by visiting vendor booths and interacting with agency representatives to earn raffle tickets for prize baskets. Youth will also have the chance to win a door prize — an iPad with case and detachable keyboard valued at $500. Participants must arrive before 12:30 p.m. to be eligible for the door prize drawing.
Throughout the event, participating agencies will offer live demonstrations of practical life skills, and food and drinks will be provided.
Transportation may be available through Chautauqua Area Regional Transit System (CARTS). Youth needing transportation can view routes and schedules at chqgov.com/carts/routes-schedules, and a reduced student fare may apply.
Organizations interested in participating as vendors or donating prize baskets can contact Brandy Freitas at 716-224-2676 or freitasb@chqgov.com.
