988 Scholarship fundraiser set for May 2
The fifth annual fundraiser for the “988 Scholarship Fund” will be held on May 2 at the Brocton American Legion Post 434 from 1 to 4 pm. The public is welcome to come and enjoy the day that will include a basket raffle, food and entertainment provided by Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee, “Rockin Robin”.
This scholarship benefits Chautauqua County residents who are entering into or pursuing their degree in the medical or mental health field. It is designed to help raise awareness and identify suicidal ideologies with the hope of lowering the number of suicides within our county.
With a huge “Thank you” to our dedicated sponsors, we have been able to award over $15,000 to deserving individuals within our county. Basket donations will be accepted until May 2,and check donations are accepted year-round. Checks may be made payable to “988 Scholarship Fund” and mailed to 8916 Harmon Hill Road, Fredonia, NY 14063.
Anyone interested in applying for this scholarship must be a Chautauqua County resident, be accepted into, or currently enrolled in the medical or mental health field and must complete a 500-word essay. Applications can be obtained at high school guidance centers, JCC Finance and guidance office, or email for an application to all4him@netsync.net.
