Five members from Girl Scout Troop 20163 — Emmamarie Barone, Alivia Beuzenburg, Lyla Franklin, Sierra Heckathorn and Arianna Vasquez — recently earned their Bronze Award which is the highest award a Junior can earn. For their project they came up with a “Buddy Bench” to be placed at the Forestville Elementary School. The girls worked with Mrs. McMahon, the Forestville Elementary principal, on getting her permission and how to present it to the school. They came up with this project when a sister scout didn’t have anyone to play with on the playground and felt alone and sad. So they decided to create a bench for the school. Girls would like to Thank Erie 2 BOCES Construction CTE program at Loguidice for their help in making the bench for the girls. The girls spent time staining the bench once it was built. They would also like to thank Dennis and Cathy Gould for their donation of the plaque for the bench, Kyle Barthel for picking up the bench to take to the school, and Forestville Elementary for allowing them to do their project. On Monday, June 15, Emmamarie Barone and Lyla Franklin presented the bench to the Elementary School along with a sign, and a Buddy Bench Book.
