Auxiliary shares in picnic, makes event plans

CASSADAGA -- The Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held their summer "dish-to-share" get-together, Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Prayer was given before dinner by Patricia Hayward. There was a great variety of foods, and conversation was enjoyed by all. A short informal meeting followed the dinner, which began with Hayward presenting junior member Shayleigh Albaugh with a thank you and a Eight district/Department award for her work with veterans and their programs.
The Legion-Auxiliary-Sons July Fourth Family picnic was well attended and fun was had by all. Cassadaga's National Night Out, Aug. 5, at Johnny Fessenden's Ball Fields was attended by local, county and state first responders as well as the community.
Unit 1280's famous Pie & Desserts sales during the Sons’ Cruise Nights have been great. Its last one of this year will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cassadaga Legion. It was noted that Unit 1280 made 100+% membership for 2026!
Upcoming events include the Cassadaga Labor Day Weekend celebration, in conjunction, the Legion-Auxiliary-Son's will be holding a "take-out only" Chicken BBQ, Sunday, Sept. 6, noon until sold out, and there will be a parade on Main Street, Monday Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. There is the 8th District Fall Conference September 5th at Post 1041, Buffalo.
The annual Vendor Show will be held on Saturday Oct. 24. The next meeting will be Tuesday Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m. in the Legion Hall. The evening ended with a prayer remembering our Troops, a thank you for a great evening, and safe travels home for all.
