Lions Club hosts golf tournament

On Sunday, Aug. 9, the Dunkirk Fredonia Lions Club hosted its Sixth Annual Golf Tournament at The Vineyards Golf Course. One hundred golfers comprising 25 teams played for several prizes.
The top three teams were:
First place - Team Leysath
Second place - Team LeRoy
Third place - Team Morello
Also, there were hole-in-one contests on two selected holes for either a Sandals Beach vacation sponsored by Wide Open Travel with Mike and Hollin or a New Car sponsored by Fredonia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Unfortunately, those prizes were not won.
There was also a 50/50 raffle and a basket raffle with over 40 baskets/prizes to win. Additionally, the day included hot dogs at the turn and a chicken barbecue luncheon held on site after the golfing was finished.
This fundraising event for the club was a major success with over $4,500 being raised. The club wishes to thank the golfers who played, the sponsors who purchased tee-box signs, those who donated basket raffle prizes, those who purchased tickets and The Vineyards Golf Course for working with us to have our event.
Proceeds from the event help the Lions Club to continue their work giving back to the local communities through activities such as helping with sight and hearing needs, a medical equipment loan closet which loans out items like walkers and crutches, offering scholarships for graduating Seniors in five local school districts, and providing activities for local sight impaired individuals such as the Bowling with the Blind event.
The Lions Club wishes to thank all who made this event a success and they look forward to next year's Seventh Annual Golf Tournament to be held on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2027.
