Fire damages Lakewood home

LAKEWOOD — A Lakewood residence sustained significant damage after fire broke out late Sunday.

Firefighters were called to 19 Owana Way around 11:43 p.m. Surrounding departments were also called to assist.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, investigators found there was an electrical sub panel feed wire that “became compromised and had an electrical issue causing the fire under the floor space.”

Fire then traveled up the wall space to the second floor and into the attic.

“The fire was determined to be of Accidental nature,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. “No injuries reported and the fire and the water caused severe damage throughout the home.”
