JAMESTOWN – On Thursday, New York State Police arrested Timothy E. Ford, 52, of Panama for driving while intoxicated on State 394.

He was transported to Jamestown State Police for processing where a blood alcohol level of .22 percent was obtained.

Ford was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated and is to appear in the City of Jamestown Court at a later date.

SILVER CREEK – Fredonia State Police arrested Lauren A. Helda, 30, of Silver Creek for shoplifting $243.28 of miscellaneous cosmetics from Rite Aid.

Helda was processed at the Fredonia Station and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Silver Creek Court for the petit larceny.

Helda was also issued a ticket for aggravated unlicensed operation.

RANDOLPH – On Monday, New York State Troopers arrested Kevin A. Hanson, 25, of Little Valley for drug possession and driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop for a loud muffler on State 394.

Hanson was issued tickets for unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation and inadequate exhaust returnable to the Town of Randolph Court.

Jamestown men charged

in alleged arson

HARMONY – Two Jamestown men have been charged in connection with an arson in November. Travis Switaj, 20, and Mick Peterson, 22, were charged Monday.

According to the Chau-tauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the Panama Fire Department responded on Nov. 8 to a cabin fire on Burron Valley Road where investigation found the fire was intentionally set. The men allegedly entered the cabin and set items on fire before leaving the scene.

Switaj and Peterson were charged with second-degree arson, third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. Both were arraigned in Harmony Town Court and released on bail.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

MAYVILLE – Steph-anie A. Hart, 30, of Irving was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief on Tuesday. Hart, while housed at the Chautauqua County Jail, allegedly smashed a county-owned TV in her cell during an outburst at 3 p.m. She will appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.

FORESTVILLE – Mark R. Kirkland, 54, of Quarry Road was charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny on Wednesday. Deputies received a report of an alleged burglary in progress on Empire Road at 1:40 p.m. The victim had arrived home and allegedly found Kirkland inside the residence. The suspect then fled the scene.

Kirkland was arraigned in Hanover Town Court and released on his own recognizance to appear in court at a later date.

CHERRY CREEK – Ronald B. Lilley, 41, of Cherry Creek was charged with second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child on Mon-day. The charges stem from an incident that happened on Jan. 29 where Lilley allegedly struck another individual during an altercation. He was issued appearance tickets for Cherry Creek Town Court.

Westfield Police

Todd L. Reardon, 38, of Union Street was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and having an unlicensed dog on Tuesday.

Reardon allegedly failed to obey several court orders in which his dog was deemed dangerous. During the investigation, Reardon was found to allegedly have another unlicensed dog at his residence.

He was arraigned in Westfield Village Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash or $3,000 property bail.

New York State Police at Jamestown

ELLICOTT – James-town State Police Tuesday arrested Randy R. Hefing, 54, of Jamestown for driving while intoxicated.

Hefing was transported to Jamestown State Police where a blood alcohol level of .13 percent was obtained. Hefing was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated returnable to the Town of Ellicott Court and released to a third party.

Gowanda Police Department

Dana Bulman, 48, of Collins was charged with second-degree harassment and aggravated harassment on Feb. 9. It is alleged Bulman had been at a Perry Street residence and threatened physical harm to a female acquaintance. After Bulman left the residence, he allegedly continued to threaten the female by calling her. Bulman, who appeared intoxicated, was arraigned in Collins Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

Eric M. Williams, 26, of Jamestown Street was charged on a warrant on Feb. 9. Williams was wanted by the Hamburg Police Department for failure to appear. He was arrested at his residence and turned over to Hamburg Police.

Celani N. Christ, 24, of Buffalo was charged on an arrest warrant on Feb. 10. Police responded to a complaint of Christ allegedly going door to door on Main Street selling products. A computer check revealed Christ had an active warrant from Buffalo State College Police for failure to appear. Police turned over Christ to Buffalo State College Police on this warrant.

Eric Stoltman, 42, of Cheektowaga was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on Feb. 15. Police received a complaint from a female resident regarding Stoltman. He allegedly contacted the female by phone violating an order o f protection issued by Eden Town Court. Stoltman was released on appearance tickets for Persia Town Court.

Heather L. Diaz, 29, of Olean was charged with an arrest warrant on Feb. 18. A warrant was issued when she failed to appear and she turned herself into police. Diaz was released on her own recognizance to appear in Collins Town Court at a later date.

Indigo J. Vantino, 19, of West Main Street was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a non-original container on Feb. 19. Police observed Vantino sitting in the driveway of a closed business in a vehicle. He was allegedly found to be in possession of eight prescription pills that were not prescribed to him. Vantino was released on an appearance ticket for Persia Town Court.

Angi L. Witczak, 40, of North Collins was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation on Feb. 19. Witczak allegedly contacted another individual’s insurance company and arranged for her vehicle to be placed on the policy, without the policy owner’s consent or knowledge. Witczak was released to appear in Persia Town Court.

Jenna L. Vetter, 18, of Lawtons was charged Sun-day with second-degree crim-inal contempt. Police discovered Vetter and a 16-year-old male sitting in a vehicle parked on Union Street at 1:10 a.m. A computer check revealed an order of protection had been issued by Collins Town Court and Vetter and the male were not to have contact. The male was also charged with second-degree criminal contempt. Both were released on appearance tickets for Collins Town Court.

MAYVILLE – District Attorney David W. Foley announced the following pleas and sentences in Chautauqua County Court:

Jermaine L. Holloman, 28, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 4 years in state prison for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and 2 years post-release supervision concurrent with time served for fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Brandon Clifton, 28, of Randolph, was sentenced to 3 1/2 to 7 years in state prison for third-degree burglary.

John A. Kellom, 28, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 1 1/2 to 3 years in state prison for first-degree criminal contempt.

Dewitt J. Logan, 35, of Buffalo, was sentenced to 1 1/2 years in prison with 1 year post-release supervision for fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Alfredo L. Brown, 33, of Irving, was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison for violation of probation.

Lavern L. Riley, 31, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 1 year in jail for second-degree attempted assault .

Barbara A. Flores, 45, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 5 years probation, a $1,000 fine and 60 months ignition interlock device for felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child concurrent with 3 years probation for endangering the welfare of a child.

Ripley man and meth lab busted

RIPLEY – On Friday at about 8:30 p.m. Chautau-qua County Sheriff Depu-ties arrested John Gibbs II, 23, of Ripley on an arrest warrant for breaking probation in Pennsylvania. Gibbs was found in possession of a portable meth lab.

When Gibbs tried to flee after allegedly attempting to strike an officer, he was tasered and transported to Westfield Memorial Hos-pital for minor injuries.

Gibbs was charged with third-degree felony unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, second-degree methamphetamine manufacturing materials, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He is being held in Chautauqua County Jail without bail as a fugitive from Justice and on $17,000 bail for new charges.

Man charged after allegedly putting drugs in his pants

GOWANDA – An Olean man was charged after police observed him allegedly putting drugs down his pants during a traffic stop. Daniel V. Grover, 36, of South Berry Street was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having a criminal substance in a non-original container on Wednesday.

Gowanda Police stopped Grover after observing his vehicle parked in the driveway of a closed business on Jamestown Street. Grover allegedly attempted to place a cigarette pack down the front of his pants that contained numerous narcotic and controlled substance pills, none of which was prescribed to Grover.

Grover was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Gowanda woman charged after alleged numerous 911 calls

GOWANDA – A Gowanda woman has been charged after allegedly making several calls to 911. Carolyn R. Jimerson, 53, of Jamestown Street was charged with falsely reporting an emergency to police on Feb. 16.

According to the Gowan-da Police Department, Jim-erson allegedly called 911 to report an emergency. Upon arrival, she allegedly told patrol she wanted a ride to buy cigarettes. Police told Jimerson, who appeared intoxicated, this was not po-lice procedure and warned she would be charged if she contacted 911 again without an emergency.

After police left, Jimerson allegedly made eight calls to 911 within 15 minutes. She was released on an appearance ticket.

Route 83 accident leads to charges

ARKWRIGHT – A two-car accident Tuesday morning sent one driver to the hospital and charged another on Route 83.

According to the Chau-tauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas Minnich, 36, of Sinclairville allegedly failed to yield the right of way while turning off Center Road onto Route 83. A vehicle operated by Kara Frontuto, 32, of Conewango Valley collided with Min-nich’s vehicle. Frontuto was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle for apparent minor injuries.

Minnich was charged with failure to yield the right of way at an intersection and will appear in Arkwright Town Court.

New York State Police at Fredonia

CHERRY CREEK – Sunday at 10 p.m., Fredonia State Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 83 for an inadequate muffler.

Investigation revealed the operator, Alisha Scinta, 43, of South Dayton, was operating the vehicle with a revoked license. Scinta was intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of .12 percent.

She was issued uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Cherry Creek Court on March 18.

POMFRET – On Sun-day at 1:40 a.m., Fredonia State Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 60 for failure to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle.

Javier Medinia Reyes, 21, of Florida was found to be intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of .12 percent.

Reyes was issued UTT’s for failure to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and driving while intoxicated all returnable to the Town of Pomfret Court on March 4.

Police probing Busti fire

BUSTI – The Chau-tauqua County Fire Invest-igation Team is investigating a fire on Wellman Road which occurred Sunday afternoon. The fire was reported at the single-family residence shortly after 3 p.m.

There was no one home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The home is a total loss and the family is being assisted by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire still remains under investigation by the fire investigation team and the Lakewood-Busti Police Department.

POLAND – On Friday, New York State Police arrested Steven R. Patterson, 42, of Jamestown for driving while intoxicated.

Patterson was transported to Jamestown State Police after a blood alcohol level of .16 percent was obtained. He was issued tickets for parked on the pavement, littering and driving while intoxicated returnable to the Town of Poland Court.

Patterson was released to a third party.

GERRY – On Friday, Jamestown State Police arrested Mario Adams, 24, of Jamestown.

Adams was found to be in possession of a switch blade knife.

He was placed into custody and transported to Jamestown State Police for processing.

Adams was issued an appearance ticket for fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon returnable to the Town of Gerry Court and released.

MINA – On Sunday, New York State Police arrested Gary W. Rafaloski, 59, of Mina after a domestic incident where he struck the victim, thereby violating an existing order of protection.

Rafaloski was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

He was arraigned in the Town of Clymer Court and was committed to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

Rafaloski is to appear in Town of Mina Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

SHERMAN – On Saturday, New York State Police arrested Daniel L. Fritz, 25, of Franklin, Pa., for drug possession.

Fritz was issued a traffic ticket for speeding and an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana returnable to the Town of Sherman Court.

SHERMAN – Three people were injured and one was listed in critical condition after a two-vehicle accident on Pelton Road in the town of Sherman Saturday morning.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, around 2:30 a.m., deputies and the Sherman Fire Department responded to the accident with serious personal injury.

After an investigation, it is alleged Dakota Bird, 19, of Ripley was driving south on Pelton Road while Ronald Miller, 21, of Mayville was driving north when they both collided head-on.

The collision occurred at a hillcrest and caused extensive damage to both vehicles. Both Bird and Miller had to be freed from their vehicles using the hurst tool.

Bird was taken via ambulance to Westfield Memorial Hospital, where he was airlifted via Starflight to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., and listed in critical condition. Miller was flown from the scene to Hamot by Stat Medivac.

Miller also had two passengers: Robert Gilbert, 20, of Mayville and Stephany Cloutier, 20, of Ripley. Gilbert was not injured and was taken from the scene by a private vehicle. Cloutier was transported to Hamot via ambulance.

The accident is being reconstructed by the Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruc-tion Team.

Charges are pending at the conclusion of the reconstruction report and toxicology results.

The Mayville and South Ripley fire departments also assisted on the scene.

Teen charged after allegedly hitting girlfriend with boot

LAWTONS – A teenager has been charged Thursday after an alleged domestic dispute involving his girlfriend. New York State Police charged 18-year-old Lucas Beaver of Mileblock Road with second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree harassment.

Beaver allegedly took the victim’s cell phone and physically kept her from leaving his house during an argument. He then allegedly began throwing the victim’s clothes out of the house and hit her in the face with a boot. The victim reported the incident to police the next day and Beaver turned himself in to police on Feb. 20. He was released to appear in North Collins Town Court at a later date.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

NORTH HARMONY – Michael K. Ellert, 51, of Euclid, Ohio was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to signal a turn on Friday. At 10:15 p.m., deputies stopped Ellert’s vehicle on Route 474 after allegedly failing to signal a turn from South Maple Avenue. During the stop, it was found that Ellert was allegedly intoxicated. He was released to appear in North Harmony Town Court at a later date.

SILVER CREEK – Stephanie A. Hart, 40, of Silver Creek was charged with second-degree harassment and third-degree criminal trespass on Friday. Hart allegedly walked into a victim’s apartment on Christy Street for no apparent reason and proceeded to threaten her at 11:30 p.m. She was released to appear in Silver Creek Village Court at a later date.

EVANS – Anthony Szarpa, 24, of Angola was charged with driving while intoxicated on Saturday. At 1:30 a.m., police stopped Szarpa’s vehicle for allegedly failure to signal a turn on Garfield Avenue. Szarpa was found to be allegedly intoxicated and failed a series of sobriety tests. His blood alcohol content was found to be a reported .10 percent. He was released to appear in Evans Town Court at a later date.

EAST OTTO – Tonja M. Libby, 34, of Collins was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and failure to maintain lane on Wednesday. These charges stem from a motor vehicle accident at 11:03 p.m. Libby was turned over to a third party and is due back in East Otto Town Court at a later date.

KIANTONE – On Tuesday, New York State Police arrested Stanley P Barton, 66, of Jamestown and charged him with drug possession and obstruction after a traffic stop for using a hand-held mobile device on Riverside Road.

Barton was issued ap-pearance tickets for second-degree obstructing governmental administration, un-lawful possession of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle on a public highway while using a mobile phone and obstructed plate; all returnable to the Town of Kiantone Court and re-leased.

Falconer woman sentenced for stealing from the Post Office

BUFFALO – U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced Thursday that Donna Spencer, 51, of Falconer, pleaded guilty to misappropriation of postal funds by a postal service employee before Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell T. Ippolito Jr., who is handling the case, stated that Spencer was employed by the United States Postal Service since 1986. Between Feb. 13, 1999, and July 19, 2013, the defendant was employed as the Postmaster at the Frewsburg Post Office. During that time, Spencer accepted cash payments from USPS customers for the purchase of postage stamps. Instead of depositing the cash payments into the USPS register, the defendant kept the cash for her own purposes. An audit of the Frewsburg facility determined that the total loss amount was $14,023.50.

The plea is the culmination of an investigation by the United States Postal Inspection Service, under the direction of Inspector in Charge Kevin Niland of the Boston Division.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 27 at 10 a.m. before Judge Skretny.

Alleged drunk driver rolls vehicle

PORTLAND – An alleged drunk driver rolled her vehicle on Plank Road early Thursday morning.

Brittney N. Paulus, 29, of Dewittville was charged with driving while intoxicated, speed not reasonable or prudent and failure to keep right.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was called to the report of the single-vehicle accident shortly after 12 a.m. It is alleged Paulus was traveling south when she crossed over the northbound lane leaving the roadway and overturning her vehicle. Paulus was found to be allegedly traveling at an unsafe speed for the icy conditions and was intoxicated.

Neither Paulus nor her 25-year-old male passenger was injured. She was released to appear in Portland Town Court at a later date.

New York State Police at Collins

COLLINS – On Wednesday Robert Bargy, 49, of Falconer and Joshua Ross, 25, of Falconer were arrested on arrest warrants for petit larceny.

On Feb. 13, the two men reportedly stole $150 worth of cigarettes from the Iroquois Smoke Shop on Route 438 in Gowanda.

Troopers from Collins and Falconer were able to track the two down to the Jamestown area as the investigation unfolded, and picked them up last night on the warrants.

The two were processed in Collins, arraigned in Collins Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $5,000 cash bail.

Chelsi Mikowski, 25, of Brigham Road was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain a lane on Feb. 8.

Joshua Cave, 32, of Cottage Street, Westfield, was charged with second-degree harassment on Feb. 9.

Rolando Colon, 30, of Route 20, Fredonia, was charged with second-degree sexual abuse and forcible touching on Feb. 9.

Rodney Clyburn, 33, of West Fourth Street was charged with menacing on Feb. 9.

Isai Santiago-Garcia, 29, of Lake Shore Drive East was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Feb. 10.

Tony Stewart, 31, of North Beagle Street was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal contempt and trespassing on Feb. 11.

Alexander Santiago-Rodriguez, 38, of Lincoln Avenue was charged with trespassing and possession of a hypodermic needle on Feb. 12.

Wayne Magill, 41, of South Roberts Road was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and inadequate exhaust on Feb. 12.

Angel Muniz, 39, of East Main Road, Fredonia, was charged with driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to signal and expired registration on Feb. 14.

Carlos Ruiz, 67, of Ruggles Street was charged with driving while intoxicated, no insurance and failure to dim lights on Feb. 15.

Joseph Jagoda, 24, of Washington Avenue was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to comply, no insurance, failure to signal and violation of a conditional license on Feb. 15.

Orlando Rodriguez, 51, of Lincoln Avenue was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated on Sunday.

Jeremiah Kurgan, 27, of Robin Street was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Sunday.

Eric Grim, 55, of Hoyt Street, Dunkirk was charged with larceny on Feb. 12.

Paul Otto, 23, of Rochester was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment on Feb. 14.

Alexander Czechowski, 20, of Clinton Avenue was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and following too closely after an accident near the intersection of East Main Street and Newton Street on Feb. 15.

Jacob McCoy, 21, of Lancaster was charged with failure to yield the right of way after an accident on Brigham Road about a quarter of a mile north of Temple Street on Feb. 15.

Cheryl Jessie, 50, and Adam Jessie, 24, both of Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk, were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Wednesday.

Rachael Langford, 28, of Wisteria Drive was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment on Wednesday.

Westfield Police

Edward R. Eaker, 28, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and having no or inadequate headlights on Tuesday. At 1:53 a.m., police stopped Eaker’s vehicle on East Main Street for allegedly driving without headlights. Eaker’s driving privileges were allegedly suspended in New York state. He was released to appear in Westfield Village Court at a later date.

Stuck car leads to DWI charges

COLLINS – A vehicle stuck in a driveway led to driving while intoxicated charges for a Gowanda man Monday evening.

According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of a car stuck in a driveway on Gowanda Zoar Road. Police discovered 71-year-old David L. Bobseine stuck in someone else’s driveway who was allegedly intoxicated. His blood alcohol content was found to be a reported .16 percent, twice the legal limit. He was processed at the North Collins substation and released on appearance tickets.

Stolen credit card leads to charges

A Fredonia man has been charged after using an alleged stolen credit card at an area business.

Bryan Postolowski, 27, of Temple Street was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a reported burglary on Fuller Road in Portland on Feb. 3. Later that same day, Postolowski allegedly bought merchandise from Walmart in Fredonia using a credit card from the burglary.

He was arrested on an arrest warrant at his residenc, arraigned in Fredonia Village Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 property bail.

High-speed chase leads to charges

DAYTON – A South Dayton man has been charged following a high speed chase on Feb. 13.

Dale A. Sandy, 53, was spotted allegedly traveling 101 mph on Route 322 by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office at 10:45 p.m. When deputies attempted to pull over his vehicle, Sandy allegedly led police on a high speed pursuit through the village of South Dayton, crossing into Chautauqua County before eventually stopping his vehicle on Route 39 in the town of Hanover.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer, speeding, speeding over 55 and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. He was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. He is due back in court at a later date.

FRENCH CREEK – Trista L. Morando, 41, of Butler, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to signal a turn on Feb. 14.

Deputies observed Morando’s vehicle allegedly pull over on the shoulder of Mann Road then pull away and turn onto Griffin Road without signaling. Morando was found to be allegedly intoxicated. She was released to a sober third party and will appear in French Creek Town Court.

BROCTON – Marcus D. Reed, 24, of Central Avenue was charged with second-degree harassment on Tuesday.

At 3:15 p.m., deputies responded to the report of an altercation on Peerless Street. Reed allegedly grabbed another individual, pushing him up against a wood stove. He allegedly continued to threaten the victim and push him until a third party was able to stop him. Reed was issued appearance tickets for Brocton Village Court.

KIANTONE – On Monday, New York State Police arrested Michael Thompson, 36, of Jamestown on drug charges after a traffic stop on Route 60 in the town of Kiantone.

He was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.

KIANTONE – While assisting at a traffic stop Monday on Route 60, New York State Police arrested Dean Sandstrom, 51, of Frewsburg on drug charges.

He was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.

STOCKTON – New York State Police Monday charged Walter L. Whitfield, 37, of Cincinnati, Ohio, with drug possession after a traffic stop on Route 60.

Whitfield was arraigned in the Town of Stockton Court where he posted bail.

Dunkirk woman charged with larceny

On Sunday, Fredonia State Police arrested Kristin Monsour, 27, of Dunkirk on an arrest warrant issued by Town of Dunkirk Court for petit larceny.

Monsour was arraigned in the Town of Pomfret Court and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 property bond.

Monsour is to appear in the Town of Dunkirk Court on Feb. 24.

Kennedy woman charged in accident

STOCKTON – On Friday, a car accident occurred on Bruyer Road in the Town of Stockton around 6:30 p.m.

Amanda Miller, 31, of Miller Valley Road, Kennedy is charged with leaving the scene of property damage accident, backing unsafely, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating while registration suspended and revoked, and operating without insurance.

Miller will answer to these charges in the Town of Stockton Court at a later date.

MINA – On Saturday, New York State Police arrested Michael W. Brant, 37, of Warren, Pa., after a traffic stop for speeding on State Route 426 .

A computer check showed him to have an active warrant out of the city of Jamestown for failure to pay a fine and that he was also suspended in New York State.

Brant was issued tickets for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding.

He was arraigned in the Town of Mina Court and committed to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $750 bail.

CHARLOTTE – On Sunday, Jamestown State Police arrested Krista M. Gibbons, 35, of Sinclairville for driving while intoxicated.

Gibbons had a blood alcohol level of .22 percent.

Snowmobile accident leads to pair of injuries

CHAUTAUQUA – Two Williamsville residents were injured Sunday afternoon after crashing into each other’s snowmobiles on Redwing Road.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, around 12:40 p.m., deputies, along with the Sherman Fire Department, responded to the accident. An investigation showed that Elizabeth Oswald, 51, had stopped her snowmobile in the area of a blind hill crest. Eric Oswald, 52, was reportedly following behind her and could not stop in time to avoid a collision and struck her sled broad side.

Elizabeth Oswald reportedly suffered a leg injury and was treated at the scene and released. Eric Oswald suffered a head injury and was transported to UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa.

Evans accident victim identified

ANGOLA – The Town of Evans Police Department Sunday morning released the name of the victim in a fatal car accident that took place Saturday afternoon.

The driver/victim was Richard J. Heferle, 18, who lived on Gates Drive in Evans.

Preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle operated by Heferle went off Sturgeon Point Road in Evans at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and struck a tree.

Woman charged with trespassing

On Friday at approximately 10:15 p.m., Fredonia troopers arrested Kimberly Don, 52, of East Main Road, Fredonia, for second-degree criminal trespass.

Don allegedly went inside the complainant’s residence and started yelling.

Don was arraigned before the Pomfret Town Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 property bond.

Man charged with insurance fraud

Marcelino Cintra, 30, from Dunkirk, was arrested by the New York State Police at Fredonia for several felony counts.

Cintra was arrested at the Fredonia barracks for one count of insurance fraud and 21 counts of offering to file a false instrument.

He was processed at the station and is to return to Dunkirk City Court at a later date.

PORTLAND – Jenean M. Roth, 45, of Portland was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher, failure to use turn signal and failure to stop at a stop sign after a traffic stop on Webster Road around 2:20 a.m.

After being stopped, it is alleged Roth was found to be intoxicated. She was released with tickets to appear in Portland Town Court.

SILVER CREEK – Lauren Helda, 30, of Silver Creek was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, parking on a highway, unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument on Feb. 9.

Around 9 p.m., deputies observed a running vehicle that was reportedly parked in the middle of Newton Street. Upon an investigation, it was discovered the driver, Helda, had allegedly been operating her vehicle in an impaired state. A record check had allegedly showed Helda’s driving privileges were suspended in New York state.

GERRY – Derek Ring, 33, of Route 380, Sinclairville, and Jeremy Barmore, 27, of Route 60, Gerry, were both charged with third-degree assault on Friday.

Around 9:40 p.m., deputies responded to Jamestown Street in the village of Sinclairville for a fight in progress. Following an investigation, Ring and Barmore were arrested. Barmore was also found to have an active bench warrant out of the city of Jamestown. Both men were sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

ASHFORD – On Feb. 13, troopers arrested Luis Ortiz, 27, of North Goodman Street in Rochester for fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Ortiz was processed at Collins State Police and arraigned in Ashford Town Court, where he posted $750 bail. He is due back in Ashford Court later this month.

Accident claims life in Evans

EVANS – Evans Police were called to an accident around 12:30 p.m. that claimed an 18 year old’s life Saturday on Sturgeon Point Road.

According to police, an investigation revealed that the vehicle went off the road and struck a tree. The driver died as a result of the accident. There were no passengers.

The name of the deceased was not released pending notification of kin.

The Evans Police Department, including the Accident Investigation Unit, as well as the North Evans and Highland Volunteer fire departments responded to the scene.

CONEWANGO – Brian S. McGonagle, 21, of Cherry Creek, was charged Friday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, inadequate headlights and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle after a traffic stop on Benson Road at 11:58 p.m. It is alleged, after stopping McGonagle’s vehicle, deputies found marijuana and hydrocodone pills in his possession. When deputies attempted to take McGonagle into custody, he allegedly led them on a short foot pursuit before he was caught. He was arraigned in the Randolph Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of bail. McGonagle is due back in Conewango Town Court at a later date.

Name released in Jamestown fatal fire

The Jamestown Police Department has released the name of the victim in Wednesday’s fatal fire.

According to police, Toni M. Brosius, 25, of 105 Stowe St., Jamestown, died after a fire occurred at her residence. The cause of death has been ruled as acute smoke inhalation.

Police said an unattended cooking fire was to blame for the cause.

NORTH HARMONY – New York State Police charged Joshua Huntress, 25, of Dewittville, Wednesday with drug possession. Huntress was issued appearance tickets for the North Harmony Town Court and was turned over to the Jamestown Police Department on a warrant for failure to appear to a preliminary hearing.

BUSTI – New York State Police charged Laci J. Lawson, 27, of Ashville, Thursday with felony second-degree forgery and criminal impersonation. During a traffic stop in January, Lawson allegedly used someone else’s name and received a ticket for an uninspected motor vehicle. The alleged false impersonation was discovered when the victim received a notice of a $93 fine from the Busti Town Court.

State Police were contacted and the investigation led to the charged against Lawson.

In addition to the forgery and false impersonation charges, Lawson was also issued tickets for uninspected motor vehicle and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

She was arraigned in the Busti Town Court and was released to appear again at a later date.

Brant man charged with weapon possession

BRANT – New York State Police in Collins charged Mark Swantek, 20, of Cayuga Road, Brant, Wednesday with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Swantek was taken to Collins State Police barracks, where he was processed and released.

He will appear back in Brant Town Court at a later date.

Jamestown woman attempts to smuggle drugs into prison

COLLINS – On Feb. 8 Troopers arrested Leslie Rodriguez, 27, of Spring Street in Jamestown for first-degree promoting prison contraband and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Investigators from the State Department of Corrections Inspectors General office were alerted to Rodriguez allegedly attempting to get drugs into the prison while visiting an inmate.

Rodriguez was interviewed outside the visitors center of the prison, and a subsequent search of her revealed she had attempted to smuggle 22 Suboxone strips, hidden inside a balloon, into the facility.

Troopers responded and took her into custody.

She was processed at Collins State Police, arraigned in the Town of Collins Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $20,000 cash bail.

VILLENOVA – On Feb. 7, a traffic stop for loud exhaust on State Route 322 in the town of Dayton led to the arrest of a South Dayton man for drug possession.

Fredonia State Police charged Stephen Kachelmeyer, 19, of South Dayton with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Kachelmeyer was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Villenova Town Court on Feb. 20.

On Wednesday at about 2 a.m., Fredonia-based troopers charged Jorge M. Negron-Velazquez, 30, of Dunkirk for unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop for no headlights on Route 60 at Route 20 in the town of Pomfret.

He was found to be in possession of a marijuana blunt and two prescription bottles containing marijuana. Charges to be answered in the Pomfret Town Court on Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.

On Wednesday at about 5:45 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies executed an arrest warrant out of the Dunkirk Town Court.

An unidentified Dunkirk youth was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment.

The warrant and charges stem from an incident which occurred on Monday when the youth allegedly punched and kicked another person, threatened them with a knife, and threw an object at their vehicle, causing damage.

The teen was arrested and arraigned in the Dunkirk Town Court where he was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on $5,000 cash and $10,000 property bonds.

FRENCH CREEK – Kurt D. Kosmatine, 56, Fairview, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated on Saturday. At 10 p.m., deputies were investigating a disturbance in the parking lot of a local business where Kosmatine was allegedly involved. Kosmatine is alleged to have operated the vehicle while intoxicated. He was released to appear in French Creek Town Court.

MAYVILLE – District Attorney David W. Foley announced the following pleas and sentences in Chautauqua County Court:

Julien C. Johnson, 25, of Jamestown, was sentenced to a determinate term of three years in state prison with three years post-release supervision for third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Quentin Watts, 20, of Dunkirk, was sentenced to 2-6 years in state prison for third-degree burglary.

Justin M. McLaughlin, 20, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 2-6 years in state prison for third-degree burglary.

Angelo C. Montante, 22, of Hamburg, was sentenced to 1-3 years in state prison for third-degree burglary.

Emery A. Masiker, 51, of Stockton, was sentenced to 10 years probation and eight months weekends in jail for two counts of second-degree criminal sex act.

Skylar M. Miller, 27, of Ripley, was sentenced to one year in jail for fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated concurrent with six months in jail for menacing second.

NORTH HARMONY – Ryan P. Somers, 34, of Lakewood was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and failure to change address on license on Sunday.

It is alleged Somers was driving east on Route 394 when he crossed over the center line for no apparent reason and struck another vehicle. It was found Somers was allegedly intoxicated.

He was released on his own recognizance to appear in North Harmony Town Court at a later date.

RIPLEY – Bruce O. Boozel, 41, of West Main Street was charged with second-degree harassment and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation on Monday.

Boozel allegedly got into a physical altercation with a female victim and struck her in the face, hit her head against the floor several times and put his hands around her throat.

After further investigation, an arrest warrant was issued and Boozel was taken into custody without incident.

He was arraigned in Westfield Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $500 bail.

RANDOLPH – On Saturday, Jamestown-based State Police arrested Jia H You, 19, a Penn State Behrend student, of Rockville, Md., on drug charges after a traffic stop for speeding on I-86 in the Town of Randolph.

A search of the vehicle by troopers along with K-9 Kubi resulted in the seizure of five grams of concentrated hashish, smoking devices containing marijuana residue and approximately four grams of marijuana.

You was charged with felony fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and speeding.

He was arraigned in the Town of Cold Spring Court and committed to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail, to appear in the Town of Randolph Court at a later date.

LEON – On Monday, New York State Troopers responded to a domestic incident on Smith Road in the Town of Leon and arrested Brian J. Herman, 31, of Leon.

Herman was charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned in the Town of Persia Court and is to appear in the Town of Leon Court at a later date.

ELLICOTT – On Sunday, New York State Police arrested Jeremy S. Pognant, 24, of Jamestown after a traffic stop at 2:30 a.m. on Dow Street in the town of Ellicott for driving without headlights.

The patrol detected a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana and after field tests placed Pognant under arrest for driving while intoxicated.

He was transported to Jamestown State Police where a blood alcohol level of .11 percent was obtained. Pognant was also found to be in possession of approximately 22 grams of marijuana.

Pognant was issued traffic tickets for driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to use headlights.

Pognant was released to a third party and is to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date.

MINA – On Sunday, New York State Police arrested Gary W. Rafaloski, 59, of Mina, after responding to a report of a domestic incident on Gaswell Hill Road.

Troopers charged Rafa-loski with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree criminal contempt.

He was arraigned in the Town of Sherman Court and committed to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail.

Rafaloski is to appear in the Town of Mina Court at a later date.

On Saturday at 7:15 p.m., deputies, along with Westfield Police, served a warrant on Freeman and located her on Union Street. She was taken into custody without incident and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

NORTH COLLINS – Andrew Stone, 26, of Batavia was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Jan. 17. Stone’s vehicle was stopped by police on Route 62. Stone was allegedly found to be in possession of a glass pipe containing marijuana and two plastic bags containing marijuana. He was released to appear in North Collins Court.

CONCORD – Conar Jones, 17, of East Otto was charged with driving while intoxicated under the influence of drugs on Jan. 27. Troopers found Jones in his vehicle parked on Route 39. Jones allegedly seemed disoriented and there was an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Jones was found to be allegedly impaired by marijuana. He was released to appear in Concord Town Court.

BRANT – Kaylyn White, 25, of Lawtons was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Jan. 29. White was stopped for allegedly speeding on Route 438 and found in possession of a glass pipe containing marijuana. She was released to appear in Brant Town Court.

BRANT – Elijah Leroy, 19, of Irving was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Feb. 1. Leroy was stopped for allegedly speeding on Route 438. He was allegedly found in possession of two small bags containing about 2 grams of marijuana. He was released to appear in Brant Town Court.

TONAWANDA – Sara Huey, 19, of Beyer Drive was charged on an arrest warrant from Dayton Town Court on Feb. 1. White had been charged previously with driving while intoxicated following an accident on Route 62 in the town of Dayton and failed to appear in court. Troopers found her at her Tonawanda home. She was sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.

GOWANDA – Shania Gates, 22, of Irving was charged with four counts of second-degree forgery on Feb. 1. Gates allegedly had taken blank checks from a victim and on numerous occasions filled them out and had an unknowing friend cash them. A total of $1,700 was missing from the victim’s account. Gates was arraigned in Persia Town Court and released on her own recognizance to appear in court at a later date.

PERRYSBURG – Donald Sovik, 21, and Jorge Santiago, 19, both of Tonawanda, were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Feb. 3 following a traffic stop on North Road. Troopers found Sovik in alleged possession of a glass pipe containing marijuana. Santiago allegedly was in possession of a small bag containing marijuana. Both were released to appear in Perrysburg Town Court at a later date.

COLLINS – Shawn Brennan, 36, of Lackawanna was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, on Thursday. Brennan’s vehicle was stopped on Route 438 for speeding, where troopers allegedly observed a methadone tablet in plain view on the passenger seat. Brennan was allegedly found in possession of a bag containing 43 more methadone pills. His passenger, Heather Battaglia, 33, of Gowanda was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both were released to appear in Collins Town Court.

Three charged following heroin investigation

JAMESTOWN – Three were charged following an investigation into the alleged sales of heroin within the city. Jamestown Police Department executed a search warrant at a East Second Street apartment on Friday around 5:15 p.m.

Members of the SWAT Team did assist in making entry where Juan Aponte-Sierra, 22, Christian Marquez-Sierra, 18, and Josh Figueroa, 17, were all taken into custody for allegedly selling narcotics. Police allegedly found a large quantity of heroin and cash, along with a shotgun and ammunition inside the residence.

All three were charged with third-degree felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia. All three individuals were taken to the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment. Mayville man charged under Leandra’s Law

MAYVILLE – A Mayville man has been charged under Leandra’s Law Friday evening. Larry M. Passinger, 46, of Maple Drive was charged with failure to keep right, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felony driving while intoxicated and felony aggravated DWI with a child under 16.

Passinger’s vehicle was stopped on North Erie Street for allegedly failing to keep right at 9:13 p.m. Through investigation, Passinger was found to be allegedly intoxicated and had a child under the age of 16 in the vehicle. A record check showed Passinger had a previous DWI conviction, making this arrest a felony, and had a suspended driving privileges in New York state.

Passinger was arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

PANAMA – Nicole R. Coccarelli, 30, of Jamestown was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and speeding on Friday. Around 9 p.m. deputies stopped Coccarelli’s vehicle for allegedly speeding on Rock Hill Road. During the traffic stop, she was found to be in alleged possession of a small amount of marijuana. Coccarelli was released to appear in Harmony Town Court at a later date.

Three charged after drug investigation

OBSERVER Staff Report

JAMESTOWN – Three individuals have been charged following an investigation into alleged drug sales in the city of Jamestown. Theresa A. Russo, 36, of Barrett Avenue, Samuel D. Bundy, 20, and Samuel J. Russo, 42, both of Kane, Pa., where charged on Thursday following an investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

Officers from the task force, New York State Police CNET, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Jamestown Police Department took the three into custody after their vehicle was stopped on Winsor Street around 4:30 p.m.

The trio was charged with one count each of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

It is alleged the group sold quantities of cocaine to members of the task force. During the traffic stop, the three were found to be in possession of alleged quantity of cocaine as well as suboxone and a scale used to weigh the cocaine. Samuel Russo was additional charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. These secondary charges stem from an arrest warrant issued earlier by Jamestown City Court alleging Russo sold cocaine to an agent of the task force on a previous occasion.

All three were taken to the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment. They are being held without bail. Once arraigned, they will be sent to the Chautauqua County Jail pending further action of the court. The STRDTF is comprised of officers from the sheriff’s office and the Dunkirk Police Department.

Omar Salome-Hern-andez, 25, of Maple Avenue was charged with disorderly conduct on Jan. 28.

A 16-year-old Dunkirk youth was charged with third-degree assault and resisting arrest on Jan. 29.

Maria Nette-Concep-cion, 31, of North Beagle Street was charged with second-degree harassment on Jan. 29.

Stephen Sheldon, 31, of Bowers Road, Cassadaga, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and no taillight on Jan. 31.

Joshua Peterman, 21, of Deer Street was charged with second-degree menacing on Feb. 1.

Thoma Somogyi, 53, of Berry Road, Fredonia, was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, insufficient taillight and suspended registration on Feb. 1.

Herbert Brown, 39, of Columbus Avenue was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Tuesday.

Michael Foster, 49, of Walden Road, Brocton, was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, refusal of a breath test and a violation of an interlock condition on Tuesday. His preliminary hearing was waived and he was held for grand jury.

Robert Warren, 31, of East Second Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to stop at a stop sign on Thursday.

Dustin Robinson, 17, of Webster Road, Fredonia, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual act on Thursday.

Derek Seegar, 32, of Nevins Street, Dunkirk, was charged with second-degree harassment on Jan. 27. He was charged with first-degree criminal contempt on Jan. 30 and held without bail.

Shannon Orajek, 18, of SUNY Fredonia’s Nixon Hall was charged with petit larceny on Jan. 28.

Joseph Culmo, 26, of Newton Street was charged with petit larceny on Jan. 29.

Vincent Visciano, 21, of East Main Street Lower was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Jan. 29.

Deon Stanford, 21, of Woodcrest Avenue was charged with following too closely on Jan. 31.

According to an accident report, around 3:30 p.m., Kari Doino, 39, of Brocton was stopped in traffic on East Main Street facing westbound. Stanford was traveling behind Doino and reportedly struck Doino’s vehicle in the rear, causing damage to both vehicles.

Ryan Schmeer, 22, of Canadaway Street was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Jan. 31.

Eddy Mitchell, 18, of SUNY Fredonia’s Grissom Hall was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and underage possession of alcohol on Jan. 31.

Scott Drummond, 32, of Water Street was charged with petit larceny on Feb. 1.

Richard Harvey, 35, of East Main Street was charged with two counts of petit larceny on Tuesday.

Marqus Singh, 22, of Route 60 was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on Tuesday.

SOUTH DAYTON – On Thursday at about 9 p.m. Cattaraugus Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Heidi Kutschke, 41, of South Dayton on a Cattaraugus County Family Court Warrant.

Kutschke was arraigned by the Honorable Arnold N. Andolsek in the Town of Persia Justice Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

SILVER CREEK – Jesse S. Nahrebeski, 19, of Silver Creek was charged with petit larceny on Wednesday. Nahrebeski allegedly stole a ring and gold necklace that belonged to another individual on Feb. 1. Nahrebeski was issued an appearance ticket for Silver Creek Village Court.

New York State Police at Fredonia

On Wednesday at 8:30 a.m., Fredonia State Police were dispatched to an accident on State Route 20, in the town of Pomfret.

Upon arrival, the driver Robert K Beck III, 49, of Dunkirk was found to be injured as well as intoxicated. Beck had been traveling east on State Route 20 when he struck a sign post on the south side of the road, ending up in a snow embankment.

EMS transported Beck to Brooks Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

Beck was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated and speed not reasonable and prudent returnable to the Town of Pomfret Court on Feb. 18.

Gowanda Police Department

Justin A. Schwartz, 27, of Cheektowaga was charged with second-degree harassment on Jan. 14. Patrol responded to the report of alleged domestic violence at a Jamestown Street resident. Schwartz had allegedly became physically aggressive toward a female, damaging the victim’s cell phone and restraining the female from leaving. He was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Randy J. Hilliker Jr., 36, of Buffalo Street was charged with petit larceny on Jan. 21. Patrol responded to the report of an alleged shoplifter at a Buffalo Street business. Hilliker allegedly stole beer from this business. He was released to appear in Collins Town Court at a later date.

Brittni S. Jones, 20, of Route 438 was charged with insufficient tail lights, operating without a suspended registration, operating without a driver’s license, operating a vehicle without an interlock device and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Jan. 21. Police stopped Jones’ vehicle on Aldrich Street for a traffic violation. During the stop, it was found that the registration was allegedly suspended on the vehicle, Jones did not have a driver’s license and her driving privileges were suspended. Jones also allegedly did not have a required interlock device. She was arraigned in Collins Town Court and released on $1,000 bail.

Amanda J. Phinney, 26, of North Collins was charged with second-degree assault on Jan. 28. Phinney allegedly attacked another female on West Hill Street causing severe facial injuries on Jan. 22. Phinney was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

A 16-year-old male from Walnut Street was charged with petit larceny on Jan. 29. The youth allegedly had taken $100 from another subject for a drug purchase. The youth allegedly kept the money and never made the purchase. Lee was arraigned in Collins Town Court and was sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $500 bail.

Nathan F. Bley, 17, of Allen Street was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Feb. 1. Patrol responded to the report of a suspicious person on Buffalo Street. Police discovered Bley who was in possession of an alleged amount of heroin. Bley was released to appear in Collins Town Court at a later date.

Martin W. Twoguns Jr., 30, of Bush Road was charged with illegal stickers on rear window, operating without a driver’s license and third-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Twoguns’ vehicle was stopped on Buffalo Street for a traffic violation. The DMV computer check revealed Twoguns’ driving privileges were allegedly suspended and he had an active arrest warrant out of the Cattaraugus County Family Court. Twoguns was released on an appearance ticket for Collins Town Court then turned over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for the warrant.

Kristine M. Satterfield, 50, was charged with criminal facilitation and first-degree criminal nuisance on Jan. 31. It is alleged Satterfield provided a place at her residence for unlawful conduct and rented rooms at a local establishment in her name for the purpose of selling narcotics. She was arraigned in Persia Town Court and was released on bail. She will appear in court at a later date.

CONEWANGO – On Jan. 30, New York State Police responded to Bush Road for a report of a personal injury accident.

The operator, Freeman A Easterly, 47, of Cherry Creek was ejected from his vehicle after sliding off the roadway and striking a tree.

He was transported by Ellington VFD to WCA Hospital where a blood test was administered.

Easterly was issued appearance tickets charging him with driving while intoxicated and speed not reasonable and prudent.

GOWANDA – Martin W. Twoguns, 30, of Bush Road was charged on a family court warrant Saturday.

He was arrested by the Gowanda Police Depart-ment and turned over to the sheriff’s office.

He was sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $750 bail and is due back in court at a later date.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

Michael J. Koresko, 61, of Jamestown was charged Sunday with failure to yield right of way to an emergency vehicle and driving while intoxicated.

Deputies stopped Kor-esko’s vehicle on Route 60 in the town of Dunkirk for allegedly failing to yield to an emergency vehicle at 1:52 a.m. During the stop, it was found Koresko was allegedly intoxicated. He was released to appear in Dunkirk Town Court.

Bemus Point burglary

BEMUS POINT – A Jamestown man has been charged after allegedly breaking into a residence on North Everett Park Drive.

According to the Chau-tauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Matthew Olson, 31, allegedly entered the residence by going through bilco doors to the basement door, then pushing the door open on Jan. 25.

Once inside, he allegedly took a cash box containing personal property and money. Olson was charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 property bail.

New York State Police at Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – On Saturday, New York State Police arrested Lindsey M. Smith, 25, of Jamestown for felony driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on Falconer Street.

Troopers initiated the stop after observing the vehicle swerving in and out of her lane. Upon interviewing the driver, a strong odor of alcohol was detected and after field sobriety tests placed Smith under arrest.

She was transported to Jamestown State Police for processing and a blood alcohol level of .20 percent was obtained.

Smith was issued tickets for felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, first- degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation and other traffic charges.

POLAND – On Jan. 31 a traffic stop on I-86 by New York State Police led to the arrest of a Binghamton woman.

Upon approaching the vehicle, a strong odor of alcohol was detected and after field sobriety tests the driver, Crystal L. Rivera, 27, of Binghamton was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to Jamestown State Police for processing.

Rivera was arraigned in the Town of Poland Court.

CARROLL – On Jan. 31, State Police arrested Darryl L. Burlingame, 42, of Russell, Pa., for felony driving while intoxicated.

Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Riverside Road where they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Burlingame.

After field sobriety tests he was placed under arrest and taken to Jamestown State Police for processing and a blood alcohol level of .21 percent was obtained.

Burlingame was issued tickets for felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, first-degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation and moved from lane unsafely.

ELLERY – On Jan. 31, New York State Police arrested Jenell L. Long, 38, of Mayville for drug possession after a traffic stop for speeding on Route 430.

Upon stopping the vehicle, troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana. Long was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and was issued an appearance ticket.

CARROLL – On Jan. 31, State Police arrested Eric J. Zahner, 33, of Jamestown for driving while intoxicated after he got his vehicle stuck near the canoe launch off State Route 62.

Troopers stopped to assist when they saw the driver attempting to extricate his vehicle from the icy area.

A strong odor of alcohol was detected and Zahner was placed under arrest after field sobriety tests were administered.

He was transported to Jamestown State Police where a breath test result showed a blood alcohol level of .21 percent.

Zahner was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation returnable to the Town of Carroll Court and released.

New York State Police at Fredonia

COLLINS – A traffic stop on State Route 5 in the town of Hanover on Jan. 28 by Fredonia State Police resulted in the arrest of David Mahle, 53, of Sheridan.

A computer check showed Mahle had an active bench warrant from the Town of Collins Court for suspended plates and unlicensed operation.

Mahle was also wanted by Fredonia State Police for a bad check case in the Town of Dunkirk.

Mahle was arrested and processed for issuing a bad check.

Mahle was also arraigned at the Town of Collins Court on the bench warrant.

He was committed to Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $500 bail.

RIPLEY – On Jan. 28, Fredonia State Police arrested Carolyn McMahon, 36, from Erie, Pa., for fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

The arrest resulted from an investigation into an incident that occurred in the town of Ripley in June 2013.

McMahon is to appear in the Town of Ripley Court on Feb. 27.

Trio face drug charges

ARKWRIGHT – On Saturday, a traffic stop on Bard Road in the Town of Arkwright resulted in the arrest of the vehicle’s three occupants on drug charges by Jamestown-based State Police.

The driver, Bruce E. Jedrysik, 32, of Sinclairville was charged with a third-degree felony of criminal possession of a controlled substance, after he was found in possession of five grams of cocaine.

Jedrysik was arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua Court and committed to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

He was also charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation and unlawful possession of marijuana.

A passenger in the car, Jennifer M. Pelc, 29, of Sinclairville was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

She was processed at Jamestown-based State Police and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Arkwright Court and released.

Another passenger, Dakota J. Gibbon, 25, of Cassadaga initially gave troopers a fictitious name and was charged with false personation and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Arkwright Court and taken to Chautauqua County Jail due to outstanding Chautauqua County probation warrants.

Compliance check nets two arrests

In a proactive effort to address underage drinking, the New York State Police conducted an Alcohol Beverage Control compliance check on Sunday.

A total of 16 establishments were checked with 14 found to be in compliance.

Violating the State Liquor Law by selling an alcoholic beverage to a minor at the Arromart on State Route 394 in Lakewood was Sara J. Dallas, 23, of Panama. She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of North Harmony court on Feb. 13.

Arrested at the Rite Aid store on South Main Street in Jamestown was Debra K. Brake, 26, of Jamestown. She was issued an appearance ticket to appear on Feb. 12 in the City of Jamestown court.

ELLERY – Gary L. Hannold II, 38, of Centrailia Road was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, moving from lane unsafely, felony driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child on Monday.

At 12:30 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a loud noise on Dutch Hollow Road. It is alleged Hannold left the roadway and struck a guard rail. He was allegedly found a short distance away from the scene and taken into custody. He was released to appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date.

MAYVILLE – Kenneth Ecker, 67, of Mayville was charged with driving while intoxicated on Monday.

Deputies responded to the report of an alleged drunk driver leaving a gas station on South Erie Street at 3:45 p.m. Deputies located the driver, Ecker, a short distance from the gas station. Ecker was found to be allegedly intoxicated. He was arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Snowmobile accident leads to charges

CHAUTAUQUA – A snowmobile accident led to charges Saturday.

Christina M. Black, 31, of Burghill, Ohio, was charged with snowmobiling while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher and not operating at minimum speed within 100 feet of a person or ice shanty.

According to deputies, Black was operating a snowmobile about 200 yards off the lake shore near Lakeside Park in Mayville, when she allegedly struck an ice fishing shanty around 1 a.m. Black allegedly nearly struck three individuals who were ice fishing and caused significant damage to the shanty and ice fishing gear. No one was hurt.

After an interview with Black, she was allegedly found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. She was released with tickets to appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.

South Dakota man charged after hit and run accident

Fredonia Troopers charged John Spray, 33, of South Dakota, early Saturday morning following a hit and run accident on Vineyard Drive in the town of Dunkirk.

Spray allegedly collided with the back of another vehicle exiting from a restaurant around 12:10 a.m. and then allegedly fled the scene.

He was located by troopers at a hotel across the street. He was allegedly found to be intoxicated following field sobriety tests.

Spray was take into custody and processed at the station and his blood alcohol content was found to be .14 percent.

Spray was arraigned in the Dunkirk Town Court and was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on $7,000 cash bail or $14,000 property bond and will appear back in court at a later date.

PORTLAND – Thomas Frary, 25, of Brocton was charged with speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana on Friday. At 7:52 p.m. deputies stopped Frary’s vehicle for allegedly speeding on Lake Avenue. Frary was also found to be in alleged possession of marijuana. He was released to appear in Portland Town Court at a later date.

CONEWANGO – Donnald T. Brown, 31, of Conewango, was charged Thursday with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provided proper sustenance after an incident in December. Brown was arraigned in New Albion Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $500 bail.

DAYTON – Roslyn A. Lesniak, 53, of Dayton, was charged Thursday with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child after an incident in November where it is alleged Lesniak was growing marijuana in her home in the presence of her 9-year-old daughter. She was taken into custody, issued tickets and will appear in Dayton Town Court at a later date.

Wanted man locks himself inside residence

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest of a wanted man Thursday with assistance from K9 Drago in Fredonia. Jason D. White, 34, of Fredonia was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon stemming from a probation warrant.

Deputies responded to White’s West Main Street residence in an attempt to locate him on the active warrant. White allegedly locked himself inside the residence and failed to respond to deputies’ requests.

White surrendered following K9 warnings from police. He is currently being held at the Chautauqua County Jail.

Arkwright crash sends driver to hospital

ARKWRIGHT – A one-car accident on Route 72 sent a driver to the hospital Thursday.

According to New York State Police at Fredonia, Tricia Cole, 42, of Sinclairville was found unconscious in her vehicle. Cole was allegedly traveling on Route 72 when she lost control of her vehicle exiting the north shoulder, striking a ditch and coming to rest in a field.

Cole was transported by Cassadaga Fire Department to Brooks Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries.

Wood stove blamed in Cherry Creek fire

CHERRY CREEK – An overheated wood stove caused a house fire on Tuesday in Cherry Creek.

Investigators reported today the home, which was destroyed at 556 Southside Ave., said the stove was located within the residence. No one was injured as all four occupants managed to escape.

Cherry Creek, Leon, Randolph, Ellington, Conewango and Sinclairville companies helped battle the blaze.

MINA – Patti A. Smith, 53, of Findley Lake was charged with moving from lane unsafely, unregistered motor vehicle, improper plates, felony driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Jan. 25.

At 7:36 p.m. deputies responded to a single-car accident on Mann Road near West Mina Hill Road. Investigation led to Smith being the driver who was found to be allegedly intoxicated. Since she had a prior DWI conviction, this charge was a felony.

Smith was arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

Erie County Sheriff’s Office

NORTH COLLINS – David A. Rubeck, 41, of Angola was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation, among other charges on Thursday.

At 12:15 a.m. deputies responded to the report of a vehicle leaving the roadway and striking multiple mailboxes and a utility pole on Gowanda State Road.

It is alleged that Rubeck was the driver and fled the scene. He was located allegedly hiding in a wooded area and found to be allegedly intoxicated.

This charge was a felony since Rubeck had a prior conviction in the past 10 years. A chemical breath test resulted in a blood alcohol content of .10 percent.

Rubeck was held at the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in North Collins Town Court. According to police, he was charged with four felony, two misdemeanors and four traffic infractions.
