Dunkirk man nabbed for coke sales to undercover drug task force members

Jeremy N. Echevarria, 30, of Dunkirk, was taken into custody Tuesday at about 1:10 p.m. and charged with several offenses.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the Dunkirk City Police and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force located Echevarria at the intersection of Fourth and Swan streets in the city of Dunkirk. Echevarria had an outstanding Dunkirk City Court arrest warrant charging him with one count each of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of controlled substance.

The warrant is based on information supplied by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force. Allegedly, Echevarria sold quantities of cocaine to agents of the task force within the city.

He was arraigned before Dunkirk City Court Judge Walter Drag and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail pending further action of the court.

Troopers bust meth user in Findley Lake

FINDLEY LAKE — New York State Police collared another alleged drug user Monday, when troopers pulled the individual over on Interstate 86 for an observed traffic violation.

Jeffrey Young, 29, of Mayville, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after troopers conducted an investigation and found drug paraphernalia in plain sight in Young’s vehicle. They allegedly discovered 1.2 grams of methamphetamine and numerous items used to smoke the drug.

Young was taken into custody and processed at the Jamestown barracks. He was arraigned in Mina Town Court and taken to Chautauqua County Jail.

According to the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, short-term effects of abusing methamphetamines are weight loss, disturbed sleep, hyperactivity followed by “crashes,” delusions of power, aggressiveness, inability to focus and irritability. Other side effects are confusion, hallucinations, anxiety and paranoia. Convulsions that may lead to death can happen, too. Long-range effects include damage to all the major organs, memory loss, strokes and death.

¯ JAMESTOWN — Michelle Harrison, 35, of Buffalo, was charged with driving while intoxicated and more on Friday.

According to reports, troopers responded to reports of a woman leaving an area gas station, possibly in an intoxicated condition. The suspect vehicle was located driving without any lights on, pulled over and Harrison was charged with DWI after troopers allegedly verified she was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Harrison was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance not in its original container after troopers conducted a search and found pills for which Harrison did not have a prescription.

She was processed at the Jamestown barracks, arraigned in Busti Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
