Man sentenced in 2016 crash that killed a 22-year-old
MAYVILLE — A Lakewood man is heading to state prison for his role in a September 2016 crash that took the life of a 22-year-old.
Jude M. Gagliano was handed a sentence of one to three years Monday morning in Chautauqua County Court. The sentence for Gagliano, 29, stems from a Sept. 2, 2016 evening incident in which he struck the vehicle of Charles Clutter at the intersection of Sinclair Drive and Route 380 in the town of Ellery. Clutter, of Stockton, died as a result of the crash.
Police said at the time that Gagliano was allegedly driving intoxicated in his pickup truck and failed to stop at a stop sign. Gagliano pleaded guilty in court to second-degree vehicular manslaughter in September.
“Considering the facts, and there’s circumstances in this case as with any case that brings to light some difficulties, we’re very happy with that sentence and very happy on the plea to the indictment,” Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson said.
