Male accused of shooting gun in residence

ARKWRIGHT — On Wednesday at around 8:20 p.m., deputies were called to a residence in the Town of Arkwright for report of a male subject actively discharging a firearm in a residence.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Elliott Dones, 43, of Cassadaga, engaged in a confrontation with several other individuals inside the residence. During the confrontation, Dones allegedly discharged several rounds from a long gun within close proximity of multiple people in the residence nearly hitting the victims.

Deputies said Dones fled the scene prior to their arrival and an arrest warrant for first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree menacing was issued out of the Town of Arkwright Court.

Dones was taken into custody a short time later and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond. Investigation is ongoing.

Deliveryman accused of grabbing employee’s breast

SPRINGVILLE — Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a 58-year-old North Collins man after an investigation into sexual harassment charges at the Springville Walmart.

On Feb. 24, deputies responded to the store on South Cascade Drive for complaints that a newspaper/publication delivery person grabbed one of the breasts of a female employee. The store management shared in-store surveillance footage, and the case was turned over to detectives.

Detectives identified the individual and on Thursday arrested Dennis Bertino and charged him with a misdemeanor count of sexual abuse — sexual contact without consent.

Bertino was released on appearance tickets for Village of Springville Court.

¯ CARROLL — On Thursday at about 5:45 a.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to an address on Anderson Road in the town of Carroll for a past criminal mischief complaint. It is alleged that Tammy Jester, 48, of Frewsburg damaged property of another individual at the residence.

Jester was placed into custody and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. She will answer her charge in the town of Carroll court on a later date.

¯ SILVER CREEK — On Thursday at approximately 11:20 p.m., sheriff’s deputies initiated a traffic stop on Main Street in the village of Silver Creek for a vehicle operating without any headlights or taillights. A 17-year-old male passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of metal knuckles.

The 17-year-old was issued appearance tickets for fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
