Gowanda Police Department

¯ In 2018, Gowanda Police arrested Casey Jones, 28, of Gowanda, for a criminal mischief charge. When Jones failed to appear for a subsequent court hearing, a warrant for his arrest was issued by Town of Collins Court. On March 13 at roughly 7:10 p.m., Gowanda Police encountered Jones, and arrested him on the warrant. Jones was arraigned in Town of Collins Court and remanded to Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $1,000 bail.

¯ On April 6 at around 8:31 p.m., patrol responded to numerous complaints of fireworks on Dawson Drive. As patrol approached the residence in question, officers allegedly observed a fireworks display in progress. At that time, patrol interviewed John J. Buthy, 39, of Gowanda, and advised him that any further use of fireworks would result in his arrest. At 8:57 p.m. the same date, patrol again responded to a report of fireworks by Buthy on Dawson Drive. Buthy was arrested and charged with unlawful use and exploding fireworks. Buthy was later released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Persia Court.

¯ On April 12 at about 11:55 p.m., patrol stopped a vehicle on Buffalo Street after observing the driver talking on his cell phone. The driver, Kevin M. Stafford Jr., 27, of Salamanca, was allegedly exhibiting signs of intoxication, and subsequently failed several sobriety checks. Also during the traffic stop, a DMV computer check revealed that Stafford’s license was revoked for a conviction of driving while impaired by alcohol. Stafford was arrested and charged with DWI, cell phone use while driving and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. A chemical breath test later resulted in a conclusion of .12 BAC and Stafford was released on an appearance ticket in Town of Collins Court.
