Jamestown woman charged in kicking at patrol car

ELLERY — A Jamestown woman is facing charges after attempting to kick a Chautauqua County Sheriff patrol car while shouting vulgarities.

Deputies say Paige L. Patterson, 29, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct after the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Friday in Midway Park.

Patterson was at the Chautauqua County Jail awaiting arraignment.

North Collins Police report issued for May

NORTH COLLINS — In May 2019, the North Collins Police Officers were on duty for 233 hours.

Police responded to 35 various requests including traffic stops. Of these there was one traffic arrest, one suspicious incident, one complaint of erratic operation of a vehicle, one property damage accident, one open business door after close of business, one welfare check, one parking complaint, three assists to other police agencies, two assists to EMS, one vehicle lock out, four traffic details, one community policing detail, one parade detail and four court details.

Regular property checks were conducted of schools, businesses, public property, all town parks and vacant properties. Regular curfew checks were conducted. Traffic control details were conducted at the conclusion of Church Masses in the village and in Langford.

In total North Collins Police issued 74 traffic tickets in May including 45 for speeding. Speeds in the village ranged from 47-55 MPH in a 35 MPH zone; the average being 49.54 MPH. Included in these 45 tickets were 10 written in school zones. These tickets ranged from 12-21 miles over the posted speed limits for school hours; these tickets are not included in the average speeds noted.

In addition to these, one ticket was issued for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, two for unlicensed operation, 16 for cell phone violations with one issued to a subject for playing Pokemon on his phone while driving with an infant in the rear seat; three were issued for stop sign violations, three for expired registrations, two for expired inspections, one for a seatbelt violation and one for failure to maintain a driving lane.
