Minor injuries in motorcycle crash

HANOVER — On Tuesday at about 3 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Laona Road in the town of Hanover for a report of a motorcycle accident with injury.

The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Richard Catanese of Dunkirk. Catanese and a female passenger were transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital for apparent minor injuries.

Charges are pending on Catanese as a result of the investigation. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Forestville Fire Department, Cassadaga Fire Department and Chautauqua County EMS.

Traffic stop leads to felony drug arrests

SHERMAN — New York State Police pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Route 76 on July 4. While speaking to the occupants, Derek Gramling, 29, of Cumming, Ga., and Steven Bickis, 36, of Madison, Ind., troopers allegedly smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A search of the occupants and vehicle revealed the following items: psychedelic mushrooms, hashish, liquid marijuana in an e-cigarette pen, LSD, multiple controlled pills for which neither occupant had a prescription, marijuana vegetation and a pipe containing marijuana residue.

Gramling and Bickis were placed under arrest and charged with six counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful possession of marijuana. Gramling was also charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both were processed at State Police Jamestown and transported to Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment.

¯ HANOVER — On July 4 the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business in Sunset Bay for the report of a suspicious situation. During the investigation it was learned that one of the involved parties, Ezra Sarachan, 25, of Buffalo was allegedly in possession of cocaine. Sarachan was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was released and is due to appear in Hanover Town Court on a later date.

Westfield Police Department

¯ On July 6 at roughly 3:33 a.m., patrol located three individuals swimming in the pool at Welch Field, while the pool was closed. Sarah L. Trombetta, 34, of Brocton, Jamie S. Stein, 36, of Fredonia, and Loren E. D. Johnson, 32, of Fredonia, were all arrested and charged with third-degree criminal trespass. All three were released with appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Village of Westfield Court at a later date.

— On July 8 at around 10:15 p.m., Kevin J. Kelley Sr., 55, of Westfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Village of Westfield, in relation to an incident that occurred on June 29. On said date, Kelley Sr. allegedly entered and remained in a dwelling in which he had no permission to do so. Kelley Sr. was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment. Kelley Sr. will answer his charges at a later date.
