Sinclairville man facing drug charges

CHARLOTTE — A Sinclairville man is facing narcotics charges after being pulled over early Saturday.

At about 3:30 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol stopped a vehicle on Route 60 in the town. The driver was identified as Gary Linger Jr., 38. While speaking with Linger, Deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view within the vehicle. Sheriff’s Office K9 Link was deployed on a narcotics sniff of the vehicle, and did alert to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle.

A manual search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a quantity of methamphetamine inside an interior panel. Linger was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having an unregistered motor vehicle. Linger was released with appearance tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Charlotte Court at a later date.

Two seriously injured when vehicle hits tree

ELLERY — Drugs apparently had a role in a vehicle going off the road and striking a tree on Friday afternoon.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Route 430 near Lin Aveune after receiving several calls of the accident around 1:30 p.m. The investigation showed that a vehicle being operated by Walter Whitfield, 42, of Celoron and a female passenger left the road for no apparent reason and hit a tree head on.

First responders on scene were able to pull Whitfield out of the vehicle through the driver’s side window. His female passenger who was later identified as Barbara Houser, 33, of Stockton was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by fire personnel. Whitfield was transported by ambulance to UPMC in stable condition. Houser was flown to Hamot Hospital in Erie in serious condition.

Woman hurt in Chautauqua crash

CHAUTAUQUA — An improper turn led to a two-car accident on Friday afternoon.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident at Hartfield-Centralia Road at around 3:15 p.m. An investigation into the incident showed that Rebecca Ames, 32, of Dewittville, was operating a vehicle northbound on Wright Road. Ames made an improper U-turn at the intersection of Wright Road and Hartfield-Centralia Road which resulted in a collision with another vehicle being operated by Heather Luce, 43, of Westfield.

Ames sustained apparently non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Luce was uninjured. Ames was issued at traffic ticket for improper U-turn.

Infraction leads to drug charges in Busti

BUSTI — A Jamestown man is facing numerous charges after being pulled over on Hunt Road on Friday.

State Police in Jamestown arrested Ryan Robertson, 47, for allegedly driving while ability impaired by drugs, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana.

Robertson was pulled over for a traffic violation and after failing several field sobriety tests, Robertson was placed under arrest. While being searched, Robertson was found to be in possession of two bags containing methamphetamine, a pipe containing methamphetamine residue, four Percocet pills and three marijuana cigarettes. Robertson was transported to State Police barracks in Jamestown where he was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be under the influence of a Central Nervous System stimulant.

Robertson’s driving record revealed that his privileges had been revoked multiple times for alcohol-related offenses. Robertson was processed at Jamestown and transported to UPMC Hospital in Jamestown where a blood sample was secured. He was then transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Bemus Point woman in trouble again

BEMUS POINT — A 62-year-old woman is in trouble with the law again.

On Wednesday, New York State Police troopers charged Sally Lawson of Bemus Point, with fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Troopers responded to a residence in Bemus Point for a report of a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed that Lawson, in an intoxicated condition, had struck the window of the victim’s truck until it shattered. Lawson was placed under arrest, processed at the State Police in Jamestown and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.

It is the second time Lawson has been charged with a crime within a month. In September, Lawson was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and second-degree harassment.

Troopers responded to a residence in Bemus Point for a report of a disorderly subject. Investigation allegedly revealed that Lawson had driven past the caller’s residence yelling profanities, something she has done several times prior. Troopers located Lawson and advised her that she was under arrest, at which time she allegedly became belligerent and began to physically resist being placed in handcuffs.
