Sherman man charged in meth possession

CHAUTAUQUA — A Sherman man is facing a number of drug charges after a traffic stop over the weekend.

Chautauqua County sheriffs deputies reported Wednesday morning that they observed Edwin E Hannold Jr, 44, operating a vehicle on Centralia Hartfield Road around 3 p.m. Saturday. Hannold was known to have a revoked license and was operating an unregistered vehicle.

Subsequent to a vehicle stop and assistance from Chautauqua County Sheriffs K9, Hannold was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine.

He was issued tickets for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operation without interlock device, operating without insurance, unregistered motor vehicle and unlicensed operator.

He was released and will return to court later.

¯ HANOVER – On Dec. 31, Javier C. Cruz, 31, of Silver Creek, was arrested for alleged second-degree reckless endangerment and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle striking another vehicle. Upon further investigation, it is alleged that Cruz intentionally used a vehicle to strike another vehicle that was occupied. While doing so, Cruz caused damage to the other vehicle.

Subsequently, Cruz was charged and released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear at the town of Hanover Court at a later date.

¯ MAYVILLE — On Jan. 5, David L. Hanson, 35, was arrested for alleged second-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

Deputies received a report of an altercation between Hanson and another subject the day prior. After an investigation, Hanson was taken into custody and charged. Hanson was arraigned using the centralized arraignment program and will be due back in court at a later date.
