Warrant check leads to arrest of Fredonia man

A Fredonia man was taken into custody on Monday morning after a warrant check.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies, with assistance from the Fredonia Police Department, conducted a warrant check at a residence on Brigham Road in the village of Fredonia around 10:15 a.m.

Aron L. Sikes, 26, of Fredonia was located at the residence. Sikes had an active warrant for his arrest on the charged of third-degree robbery.

He was taken into custody and transported to Chautauqua County Jail. Sikes will answer his charge on a later date.

¯ RANDOLPH — Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies were investigating a two-car accident on Main Street with serious injuries.

Deputies report a 2008 Jeep Compass crossed over the center line and struck a 1991 Chevrolet van head-on around 12:15 a.m. Sunday. The driver of the Jeep and van were transported to UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie. Two other passengers in the van were transported to Chautauqua UPMC in Jamestown for treatment of their injuries.

Charges are pending, deputies said.

¯ CHAUTAUQUA — Three people were arrested and charged with alcohol and drug offenses during a Saturday morning traffic stop.

On Saturday at about 3:21 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on Centralia Hartfield Road for failure to signal a turn. The operator was identified as David R. Ralph, 30, of Mayville. Ralph was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine. He was taken into custody and a check of his driving history showed that he had a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated in the past 10 years, making his driving while intoxicated charge a felony. Ralph was also charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and no/improper turn signal.

A passenger in the vehicle who was identified as Will D. Lutgen, 55, of Mayville was found to be in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine. Another passenger, Jennifer R. McConnell, 50, of Mayville, was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. Lutgen was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and McConnell faces a charge of second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana.

After processing, all three subjects were released with appearance tickets.

¯ POLAND — A report of a vehicle in a ditch led to the operator getting charged with driving while intoxicated.

On Feb. 9 at about 9:32 p.m., deputies were called to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Page Road. Upon arrival, deputies located the operator of the vehicle and identified him as James L. Rosengren, 51, of Poland. He was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. After refusing a breath test, he was released with traffic tickets. Rosengren will appear in Town of Poland Court at a later date to answer charges of driving while intoxicated and moving from lane unsafely.

¯ NORTH HARMONY — An Ashville man is facing numerous charges after being stopped by Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies.

At 3:31 am., deputies stopped a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation. Through an investigation it was discovered that the operator of the vehicle, Evan J. Blakeslee was in possession of multiple controlled substances.

Blakeslee was charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, speed in zone, and speed in excess of 55 mph.

Blakeslee was later released with tickets to appear in the Town of North Harmony Court at a later date.
