Dunkirk firefighters battled a fourth fire in four days on Wednesday afternoon.

The department responded to a report of a structure fire at 428 Hoyt St. at 2:11 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire burning on the exterior of the house. A neighbor was using a garden hose to attempt to control the spread of the fire.

The flames were extinguished quickly preventing damage to the interior of the home but the fire caused considerable damage to the exterior. There were no injuries. Firefighters were on scene for 30 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Other fires this week included a shed early Sunday, another home on King Street on Tuesday and a jet watercraft incident Tuesday afternoon near the pier.
