CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF

GOWANDA — A Perrysburg man was taken into custody by Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies on a warrant.

Deputies reported that William A. Mohawk, 41, was picked up at 8 p.m. Thursday at 27 E. Main St. in the village on a Family Court warrant. He was sent to Cattaraugus County Jail on $1,200 bail.

SALAMANCA — A Cherry Creek man is facing vehicular and drug charges after being stopped on Interstate 86 on Friday evening.

Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies report Gregory Schroeder, 38, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after being found with crystal methamphetamine. He also was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after being stopped around 8:40 p.m.

He was issued an appearance ticket for early September in the town court.

STATE POLICE AT FREDONIA

FREDONIA — A Jamestown man wanted by U.S. marshals is in custody after being tracked down by State Police at Fredonia troopers.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Omar A. Vera Velazquez, 22, was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, resisting arrest, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration and other vehicle and traffic violations.

Troopers stopped Velazquez for an expired inspection dated for December 2019 on Route 60 in the village of Fredonia. After giving troopers a fake name and date of birth, Velazquez attempted to flee officers by foot, running through the Walmart parking lot where he was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest.

Velazquez was transported to the Fredonia barracks and further investigation revealed that he was wanted by the U.S. Marshals for probation violation. Velazquez was transported and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF

GERRY–After a long and thorough investigation, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Sinclairville woman in connection to a larceny complaint from May 24.

Deputies charged Toni L. Long, 30, with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property over the weekend, nearly two months after initially responding to a May 24 complain from an address on Old Chautauqua Road.

Long will appear in town court to answer her charge at a later date.

HANOVER–An Angola man was arrested on driving-while-intoxicated charges early Saturday morning following a routine traffic stop.

Sheriff’s deputies stopped Zachary Plowe, 35, following an observed infraction and found him to have been driving while intoxicated.

He was taken into custody and received a DWI, DWI Per Se, speed in zone, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and uninspected motor vehicle before being released with appearance tickets for Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
