Westfield Police Department

On July 31, Robert S. Ryen, 49 was charged with resisting arrest, second-degree harassment, and disorderly conduct.

At approximately 7 p.m., the Westfield Police Department conducted a check of the well-being of a male subject reportedly walking in front of cars on East Main Street. Upon arrival, officers attempted to speak to the male who was later identified as Ryen multiple times in regards to his actions. Police said Ryen became disorderly while speaking to officers and proceeded to push one of the officers in the chest in an attempt to run into the road as cars were approaching. While officers attempted to place Ryen into temporary wrist restraints, Ryen began resisting arrest. Ryen was subsequently placed under arrest and charged. He was eventually released with appearance tickets and will appear in front of the village of Westfield court at a later date and time.
