JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Police arrested a Jamestown man on a criminal contempt charge Friday night. Officers responded to a report of a domestic incident at a W. Sixth Street residence at 8:19 p.m. and found that Austin T. Thayer, 23, who had a valid order of protection to stay away from the female victim. Officers took Thayer into custody and transported him to the Jamestown City Jail where he was held pending arraignment on a first-degree criminal contempt charge.

At about 10:54 p.m. Friday, deputies were on patrol on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret. They observed a vehicle commit traffic violations and stopped the vehicle. Further investigation found that the operator of the vehicle was intoxicated. The 17-year-old male operator was taken into custody without incident and processed. The male was released with appearance tickets to answer to the charges of Failed to keep right, move from lane unsafely, driving while intoxicated, driving with 0.08 of 1% or more of alcohol. The male will be in the town of Pomfret Court at a later date.

PORTLAND — Deputies observed a vehicle traveling in excess of 98 mph on Route 5. After stopping the vehicle, deputies determined that Mathew C. Chelton, 48, of Westfield, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Chelton was later released and issued tickets for DWI, reckless driving, and other traffic citations. Chelton will be in the town of Portland Court at a later date and time.

PORTLAND — Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an address on West Main Street in the for a harassment complaint around 10 p.m. Wednesday. It was alleged that Brock D. Tyrell of Brocton did violate a stay away order of protection by going near the protected party. Tyrell was located by Deputies on Friday and was charged with second-degree criminal contempt. Tyrrell was charged and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for Centralized arraignment.

ELLERY — Around 6 p.m. Friday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Salisbury Road in the town. An investigation into the incident found that the operator of the vehicle, Ryder S Shaffer, 26, of Falconer, was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Shaffer was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.18% or higher, driving while intoxicated, fail to stop at stop sign, improper plates, unregistered motor vehicle, operating without insurance, and unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree. Shaffer was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellery Court at a later date to answer to the charges. No one was injured as a result of the accident.
