Semi driver cited in morning rollover

ELLERY — An Ohio semi driver suffered minor injuries when his tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 86 early this morning.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies responded to the westbound lane in the town of Ellery around 4:30 a.m. An investigation found that the driver — identified as 36-year-old Sandeep Singh — lost control and struck a guide rail before overturning in the median.

The westbound lane of I-86 was closed to traffic to remove the vehicle.

Singh declined medical treatment.

County HAZMAT crews responded to clean up diesel fuel that leaked from the semi. Bemus Point firefighters and members of the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement team assisted on the interstate.

The Ohio man was cited for unreasonable speed.
