¯Police arrested James R. Nelms, 37, of Brant, on Buffalo Street on Jan. 2 and turned him over to the Erie County Sheriff Department after computer check revealed an active warrant for his arrest in the county.

¯Police arrested Joshua J. Blair, 48, of Gowanda, and charged him with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration. Police stopped Blair on Buffalo Street and found that the vehicle he was operating had been suspended for an insurance lapse following a DMV computer check. The check also revealed that his license had been suspended on Dec. 13, 2020 for failing to answer nine traffic violations in the Town of Collins Court. Officers arrested him and released him on an appearance ticket in the Town of Collins Court.

¯ Police arrested Andrew J. Greinert, 30, of Gowanda, on Dec. 29 after he turned himself in to the department. Greinert was arrested on an active warrant for his arrest issued by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff Department and turned over to that department.

¯ Police arrested Mark J. Dwaileebe, 40, of Gowanda, and charged him with third-degree assault after responding to a disturbance at a Commercial Street address on Dec. 28. Police said that Dwaileebe had been verbally harassing a female acquaintance and that it had escalated into a physical altercation with Dwaileebe striking the woman repeatedly with a cane, causing a minor injury. He e was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Persia Court.

¯Police arrested Christopher M. Meyers, 39, of Gowanda, and turned him over to the Amherst Police. Officers had responded to the report of a disturbance involving Meyers and, although the disturbance had been solely verbal, without any criminal offenses, a computer check revealed an active warrant for his arrest that was issued by the Town of Amherst Court.
